1987 borns are millennials, while 1980 borns are Generation Xers.

1980 borns: The last Gen Xers
1987 borns: Absolutely Millennials (probably also the first 100% Millennials)

1980 borns: At school when the Challenger exploded
1987 borns: Nonexistent when the Challenger exploded

1980 borns: There is a very likely chance they are able to remember the Berlin Wall Fall. However, it wouldn't be that likely for them to remember its political significance.
1987 borns: It is almost impossible for them to remember the Berlin Wall Fall.

1980 borns: Starting middle school when Nicktoons were introduced in 1991.
1987 borns: Still at Pre-K when Nicktoons were introduced in 1991.

1980 borns: Will remember and understand the political significances of Ruby Ridge, the WTC bombings, Waco, and the Oklahoma City Bombing.
1987 borns: It is likely for them to remember Ruby Ridge, the WTC Bombings, Waco, and the Oklahoma City bombing, but they will not understand the political significances of any of them.

1980 borns: Already in college when the Columbine shooting, Y2K, the Bush v. Gore election, and 9/11 happened.
1987 borns: Either in middle school or freshman year of high school when the Columbine shooting, Y2K, the Bush v. Gore election, and 9/11 happened. Like 1980 borns, they will also understand the political significances of all four of these events.

1980 borns: First presidential election they were able to vote in was the Bush v. Gore election.
1987 borns: First presidential election they were able to vote in was the McCain v. Obama election.

1980 borns: Likely already received a master's degree when the Recession took place
1987 borns: Have not received their Bachelor's degree yet when the Recession took place

If you're using the Pew definition (1981-1996), then 1981-1985 would be early Millennials, 1986-1991 would be core Millennials, and 1992-1996 would be Late Millennials.

If you're using the US Census definition (1982-2000), then 1982-1987 would be early Millennials, 1988-1994 would be core Millennials, and 1995-2000 would be Late Millennials.

No.

Early Millennials (1981-1986): Remember the ‘90s from the beginning.

Late Millennials (1987-1996): Don’t remember everything about the the 1990s.
