Subject: Who remembers shoe phones?

They were really popular late in the 1980s. And even in 1990 and 1991.

I thought you meant the kind of shoe phone used by Maxwell Smart in the 1960s TV show "Get Smart".  Say "shoe phone" to any Boomer and that's ALL they will think of.  ;D

I don't think I've ever seen one before. But maybe they were just not big here in Germany. ???

Aside from the shoe phone, "Get Smart" introduced a whole slew of things into the popular lexicon for quite some time, including the expression "sorry about that, chief", and the cone of silence. On the show the cone of silence was a device that never worked (given that the show was a comedy), but we still hear people today talk about a "cone of silence" over things.

Yes, I was a fan of the Get Smart reruns when I was a kid. (In fact, during the late 80s I watched many classic TV show reruns with my dad. The broadcast channels often showed them during the day.)

Quite a simple set up. Fun to use and show friends though at the time.

Those were used regularly on TV and movies back in the day. In the sitcom Saved By The Bell (1989-93), Zack Morris used one.
