Subject: First 80's Album you bought

Written By: gunsnroses on 07/26/20 at 1:51 pm

The first album I ever bought was when I was five, it was The Go Go's Beauty and The Beat.  I loved "We Got The Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed." They were great. Such upbeat empowering music. It annihilates the pop of today.

I cannot remember the very first album I brought in the 1980s, but I did definitely purchased the Enya albums "Enya" from 1987, re-released as "The Celts" in 1992, and "Watermark" in 1988.

Just remembered am earlier purchased album, in 1981 "439 Golden Greats - Never Mind the Originals Here's the Hee Bee Gee Bees" by The Hee Bee Gee Bees which were a fictitious pop group which parodied pop groups and performers in the early 1980s, consisting of Angus Deayton, Michael Fenton Stevens, and Philip Pope of the UK radio series Radio Active.

It was a Howard Jones cassette - maybe 1983. Got it for "New Song".
Second album was Culture Club - maybe 1984.
Third was The Jets debut in 1985.

The first 80s album I bought was The Changeling by Toyah. This came out in 1982.

I own Crocodiles by Echo and the Bunnymen, which came out in 1980,  but I didn’t buy it until probably out 1984.

First album I got was Olivia Newton John's Greatest Hits Vol. 2.
They had an ad for it on TV and I thought she was an angel, I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. Got my dad to buy me the album when I found it at K-Mart in 1983. I memorized all the songs...
This was before I discovered MTV when I was 7-8 yrs old...
