Favorite Cars of the 90's: 94-99 Mitsubishi 3000GT(this is one of the best exteriors ever to be designed, its spyder headlights look bad), 95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse(mitsubishi was on their game again, I remember one of the first times I saw this car I had one word for its look: "Tight"), 1992-1996 Honda Prelude( I hated this car when I first saw it, I liked the late 80's/early 90's Prelude and I thought Honda messed up but eventually the design grew on me) 1991-1995 Acura Legend( One of the most gorgeous luxury cars ever made), 1990-1996 Nissan 300Z( Nissan was on their game in the early 90's until the late 90's when they tried to be a Toyota clone, regardless its exterior styling is timeless),  99-00 Mazda Millenia(refreshed styling between model years of 98/99, thiis is one of the most underrated exterior designs that never got its due), 88-92 Mazda MX-6(mazda like Nissan tried to be a Toyota clone in the late 90's but this design still has held up well), 97-98 Ford Mustang(don't like alot of American Cars but when you like something you like something), 98+ Cadillac STS(One word for this exterior design: beautiful, I would take a girl out in this car), 99+ Chrysler 300M( its headlights are timeless , in 30 years this car will still look good.) Didn't like 96-99 Ford Tarus(ugly), 97 + Pontiac Grand Prix(tacky cladding), 1992-1999 Pontiac Boneville(its just odd looking, Pontiac gets credit for making the most odd looking exterior of the 90's), 92-94 Nissan Maxima(too boxy), 95-00 Nissan Sentra(looked like a roller skate on wheels), 93-97 Toyota Corolla(too boxy), 95-99 Dodge Neon(very awkward looking)

It is amazing that I agree with everyone of your evaluations, I could never put it so clearly.  To bad that the US cars got better, but Japan was just to far ahead to catch.

I HATE the Chevy Avalanche !

I hate all trucks with dual tires on the back !

The Aztek is awful....

I used to hate the PT Cruiser when it first came out, but I've warmed up to that one. I still wanna know what the PT stands for tho'.

I don't, unless it's the 2WD models. Then I think you'd be better off with a regular Chevy Crew Cab pickup.

There's a reason they exist. It's meant for carrying heavier payloads, such as larger campers and towing heavier trailers. I didn't like them either when they first came out(GM first made them in 1973), because along with the grille,  which seemed too much of a throwback to the 1963-66 Chevy Trucks, I thought it was too much of a throwback to when most picups were stepside models.

I don't like it too much. I think this whole nostalgia-trend in car design these days is too excessive. Sure there are some nice retro-models, but at this point there's just too much nostalgia-overkill. Whatever happened to automakers having their eyes on the future, instead of the past?

uh, this isn't one of my favorites, but my sister had a "Grenada", and if anyone can tell my what kind of car it was, or whatever, please do so. all I can remember is that it was brown, and that I choked on a piece of watermelon candy as I was getting out one night. oh, and I smashed my finger in the door.

HEY my dad had a '78 ford granade(yes i know it ends in an 'a' this is not a typo)  as for favorite cars of the '90's
1)'93-'96 Lincoln Mark VIII(pretty car, fast and comfy)
2)Ferrari 456 GT(say what you will about a 4 seat Ferrari but it's beautiful)
3)Ferrari 355 GTB(had to be the fixed top version)
4)'97-present Chevrolet Corvette(man is it gorgeous in Millenium Yellow)
As for ugly rides...
1)'97-'98 Lincoln Mark VIII(what were they thinking with that grille??)
2)'90-'93 Ford Probe(the curvy models were a lot nicer)
3)Porsche 928(i know it's more 80's but i think it made it to the 90's)

as for what does the PT in PT Cruiser stand for...
I always thought it meant Potty Trained but Chrysler keeps telling us it stands for Personal Transportion

I had a Dodge Neon in 1995, when they were still brand new.  Remember the "HI" ads?  Well, everywhere I went, people kept saying "HI" to my car!! I thought it was pretty funny!

I REMEMBER THE HI AD's!  I can remember going past dealerships with my dad and saying hi to each one I saw.  How about the 1993 Dodge Caravan for a 90's car?  Just kidding.  Our family got one in April '94 and still have it, it's amazing how a once contemporary design looks so dated now.  I remember when it was new.  Don't know what else to say except the 90's designs were rounded off.  I remember the 80's being mostly boxy and sharp edged.

The 80's razor edged? I don't think so. The 90's were way better than the 80's in terms of styling. I do like some cars of the 80's like the Mitsubishi Starion and the Mazda RX-7 but the 90's were much better I think.

My all time fave, and one i am pursuing to own soon, is the 1993 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi.  Option package WS3 with cloth seats, forest green exterior with gold crosslace wheels.  Dunno why, just obsessively like it. ;D

Gotta give props to Dodge, though.  Finally we Americans put another global competitor on the extreme sports car market with the Viper.  Pretty much name any model from the 90s, this car put us back on the map.

I loved the look of the 98 Ram Air WS6, the 97+ Corvette, and the 98+ Camaro SS's, even the 96-97 looked good too. I also loved the look of the Nissan 300zx..  And of course the Viper, I've had the opportunity to ride in one of those.. even though my car is faster, the torque in that Viper is no joke..

I was thinking about the 1992-1997 Mitsubishi Diamante a few weeks ago. Now that car was a classic! The 1998-2001 Mitsubishi Diamante was a beaut too. In 2002 they had to put that beak on the front end: Didn't like that very much. The 1996-1997 Honda Accord was a fave of mine too back in my high school years.

Mitsubishi had a going thing going in the mid to late 90's with cars like the 94 3000Gt, 95 Eclipse, 98 Diamante and 99 Galant. Those were some nice styled cars.

I think the early to mid 90's Honda had a good thing going with cars like the 90 Integra, 91 Legend Coupe and Sedan, 92 Civic and Prelude, and 94 Accord.

Overall Chrysler takes the trophy for best 90's styling: the 300M, Ram, the Viper, Sebring, and the Dodge Caravan were some nice crisply styled vehicles.

Another cool car(if you can find one!)is the Chevy DALE EARNHARDT signature Monte Carlo!  8) They gave one away at Bennett Chevyland in Egg Harbor Township NJ,and that car is WAY cool!!! It's black like the famous#3 race car,and has his replica signature on the instrument panel!! As far as SUV's go, I like the Ford Explorer. I know someone who has one,and I've ridden in it,it's classy for an SUV. As far as minivans go, I like the Dodge Grand Caravan,it's comfy and looks classy. But I would go to the ends of the earth to get an Earnhardt Monte Carlo! :-*

I was a big fan of the Toyota Camry around 1991-92. In November 1991 we were shopping around for a brand-new car for my mom; we test drove some cars (not me; I was only 11 then :)) including 1991 and '92 models of the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. My parents and I liked the 1992 Camry the best, so we bought one. We still have it today; it has over 248,000 miles on it now. (We did lots of traveling over the past 12-13 years, especially during the 90s, when my parents had long commutes to get to work.)

My favorite is 1994 VW Corrado SLC VR6 (and still proud owner), still the fastest; 140mph, quickest; 0-60 6.3 sec 1/4 mil 14.9 @ 98mph, production VW ever produced...and with a few aftermarket mods that I added 8)...well lets just say it ain't slow ;) !!
One of the best handling front wheel drive cars ever made to this day...
Used to autocross it when it was new, SCCA forced it into F & B class prepared with Corvettes, RX-8's and Z car's due to its handling, it was beating up on all the others...

There were just a few of us (only 16,000 made for U.S.) who thought it was cool. At the time this was a poor man's Porsche (albeit w/FWD). Porsche helped with the design of the VR6 motor.
It wasn't ahead of it's time, just too much for a VW, in terms of price and performace. The car cost (all optioned out) at $23K in 1992 (when VR6 model released) a bit much for a VW when you could've bought a Acura or Mitsi (or any other car in it's class)for about $4K less. Though it had more power & better handling than them. VW was trying to use it to compete with the 300ZX & highline sports GT, no one really "saw" a VW in that range. Plus parts/modifications for this car were (& beleive me, still are) expensive, as the motor was pretty exotic at the time
When they dropped the same motor (w/less HP, w/lower $$, & cheaper to build) into the GTI there was no reason for the Corrado to exsist, and died a quick death. :(
BTW the Subaru SVX was cool, but Subaru was wishy-washy on how they marketed it here in the states. It was a sports car, w/no manual tranny and a luxury car that was a little too "different" looking. It never sold like it could of...notice how they learned their lesson now with the WRX & STi.

The thing with the Eclipse(1995-1999) was it had a Dodge Neon engine which led to all the mechanical problems in the lower model trims like the RS. I don't think reliability was bad if you bought an Eclipse in the GSX or GS-T trims. The newer ones I think are more reliable than the mid to late 90's Eclipse's. I wish Mitsu would make the Eclipse back into the pocket rocket it was in the 90's instead of making it a Galant Coupe with the 2000+ Models.
