Subject: MTVs Real World

Written By: Child of the 80s on 12/31/02 at 09:44 p.m.

The first season will always be the best because you didnt know what to expect. They seemed to work out their problems without throwing people out.But they started kicking people out which made the show SUCK! HELLO? In the "Real World" everyone cant always get along and these people who live "rent free" have no right to kick anyone out.It became unwatchable in Season 5 when they were supposed to start that business and they never did.

I think the best part about the Real World series is the show they do AFTER it is all over, where everyone has seen everything.  At least now, they have to work to be part of the show.

In my opinion, it's one of the worst 1990's creations.

Amen to that Hairspray!

Anyone who actually beleives that getting to live in a plush house/apartment for free, working at a cushy fun job, getting to party every night/day,  etc etc is the Real world is sadly mistaken!

The show's title is so wrong and false.

I tried to give it a chance when it first started, but I quickly grew tired of all the constant whining and over-dramatisation of every issue by all the cast members.  It is mind-numbing!

The only one which caught my interest was the one with Pedro. I felt sorry for his illness. After the first one, I never got into any other ones.

MTV should go back to music videos.

Can anyone please tell me what is REAL about some 21 year olds sitting around in apartments paid for by someone else and living the high life for nothing?? OK..the "stressful" moments should have already happened in high school..ok, so you were doing the horrible, hard, backbreaking task of participating in some outdoor games?? OH, what a life of slavery.
The only character I cared for was melissa..in South Africa..that one episode was interesting..and I've always thought she was beautiful.

Agree.

Not to mention that "The Real World" is one of the all time worst tv shows I've ever seen.  :P

I like the Real World still. I think the best seasons were the first one and Boston. Overall I think MTV has changed. It really went wrong with TRL when they turned it over to 12 year olds.MTV used to have more variety even at the beginning of the 90s .Now its the same thing and they even have more than one channel of the same stuff. Thank God for VH1 Classic.

If I could erase one show from history, it would be this one.  Not only because it sucks, but because of the very bad influence it's had on MTV and spawning the terrible trend of reality TV.

I tried to watch it once. It just unwatchable. I don't know who can watch that stuff. I watched that plastic surgery when the girl got her nose done and the guy got his calves done. Everything on MTV is terrible. I mean how many are they going to show a 50 Cent Special? I really respect the man. I mean he got shot 9 times and lived to tell about it but the repeating specials have got to stop. I could care less about "MTV Cribs". I mean the 1st year of showing it wasnt bad but after a year it got boring.

I love watching Cribs!  It funny though...how different rap stars & rocks stars spend their money.  Take Master P for example.....that dude's got a sh!tload of money, but spends it on stupid stuff like 14K gold toilet seats and 12 custom made Bentley's, etc.  He's got so much bling up in his house that it looks tacky!

But then if you look at how someone like Dave Grohl lives....his house is sweet!  And it's tastefully done.  His house actually looks "normal".

I just think it's interesting to see how these people live.  And, what they spend their money on.  I think some of them tend to forget the MC Hammer travesty.....remember?  He bought so many houses, cars, & crap that he eventually ran outta dough.  Oh but then again, he did have a staff of 250 people that followed him around all day making sure his balloon pants weren't deflating. ::)
