I've never heard of any of these songs or at least I do not recognize them.

If I did hear any of them, it was probably unintentionally while I was out and they made absolutely no impression on me.

I remember I LOVED "All My Life" by K-Ci and JoJo and "The Way" by Fastball.  "Closing Time" by Semisonic was very popular.  I never hear "Crush" anymore even though I remember it was played a LOT.

I'm suprised you never heard at least one song I listed. I graduated in 1998 so thats why there are lots of songs I remember from that year.

Bittersweet Symphony is a great song, I went and bought the album because of it.  There was another song on Urban Hymns that I really liked called Lucky Man.

Closing Time was good, although that song was just way overplayed.

As for the Marcy Playground song Sex and Candy, I just couldn't stand that one after awhile.  Don't know what happened to that band.

The three songs I just mentioned were all over American radio that year.  By the end of '98 I was in the UK and heard Manic Street Preachers for the first time.  Now, they're one of my favorite bands...

Yeah. I just don't listen to the radio much and don't watch much TV.

I graduated high school in the 80's, so that's where my music memories lie.  :)

I don't think they re-released it, I think it's just one of those songs that stuck around for awhile.  I still remember hearing that song for the first time during Spring Break '98.  It made a great anthem for going out boozing.  I miss Spring Break.  :'(

Songs from 1998 I actually liked. (some I still like)  :D

Jennifer Paige "Crush"   :)
Marcy Playground "S x and Candy"
Fastball "The Way"

Where's:
The New Radicals "You Get What You Give"  (Over Played)
Beastie Boys "Intergalatic" (regular rotation)

Well, out of the 17 songs, I only liked 3. I must've been
under a rock for most of the time in 1998. Or listening to
other radio stations.  :D And started to lose interest on MTV!
As I was already watching more VH1 since 1995.
And I was only a teenager! Darn TRL!

"put your hands..." is 1997 also. Still a classic though. the album came out in september 1997 that was the first song released, and  i remember it was out when missy was pretty new and puffy was mega popular(off of biggies death, of course)

You guys have only hit part of the songs from 1998.  Remember Green Day's song " Good Riddance"( Time of your life)?  That came out Spring 1998. It was a great song for graduating and they played it on the Seinfeld last show.  Then who could forget " Save Tonight" by Eagle Eye Cherries.  That came out November 1998.  I first head it on the show " Felicity".  Then there was Natalie Imburlia with
" Torn" it came out Spring 1998.  Right on with " The Way" by Fastball ( March/ April 1998) and " Sex and Candy" by Mercy Playground.  I love those songs! I'm trying to remember more songs.  Wasn't Jewel from 1998 as well? and Wasn't Savage Garden's song " I will stand with you on a mountain, I will swim with u in the sea" from 1998? and who could forget Aerosmith' s song " I don't want to miss a thing" ( Summer 98, for the movie, Armageddon).  I'll post more when I think of more good ones. If you want to talk 90s anything, talk to me, I'm a freak about it!

I think Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) came out, on the radio and on Muchmusic and MTV, in December 1997. I remember that because the video debuted on the Muchmusic Countdown at the very end of the year and I heard it on the radio before that. I consider it a '97 song, but maybe that's just me. I was a big time Green Day fan then. I still think they're good, but they remind me more of my elementary/middle school days.

I think 1998 was very underrated. Usually people think about boy bands when they think about the late 90's. Another song I forgot about was "Rain" by R&B Group SWV. Thats one of my favorite songs ever. I forgot about Natilie Imbruglia with "Torn". I still like that song. I think the song by Savage Garden is "Truly Madly Deeply" that somebody mentioned 2 posts ago. Also I liked "Gotta Be" by R&B Group Jagged Edge too. "Half On A Baby" and "Home Alone" were good songs by R. Kelly. "Pretty Fly For A White Guy" by Offspring was another song that was hot then but that was late 98/early 99 wasn't it? Another R&B Jam was "I Get So Lonely" by Janet Jackson and Blacksteet. "Trippin" by R&B Group Total w/Missy elliot was another song I used to listen too back then. Got to think more about Rock now..."Shimmer" by Fuel, "Wash it Away" by Black Lab were other songs I used to listen to early in 98. Wide Open Saces by Mansun was one of the top songs in the 90's that never got any recognition. I remember when MTV declared Rock dead in 1998. I just think everybody got tired of rock in 1998 because of all the grunge from 1992-1996. People needed an escape from that a little bit. Thats probably why I can't think of many rock songs. Didn't Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains have a hit song in 98 too? I can't remember the name of the song off the top of my head.

Wash It Away is a great song.  I haven't heard much about Black Lab lately, but I really do like their first(and only?) album.

I liked "Bitter Sweet Symphony"

1998 is seems to always be a forgotten year.  All the attention goes to 1991-'96, and then 1999.  '97 and '98 are kinda lost in that mix.
