Subject: OK, This is a complete long shot...

Written By: Criz on 03/09/03 at 01:45 p.m.

...but the name of this childrens TV game show has been doing my head in for ages! I'm desperatly hpoping that someone recalls it.

As far as me and my friend remember - it was on CBBC1 (I'm not sure whther it was American or British) at least the mid 90s. I'm sure at primary school when I watched it, and I left in '96 - so it must have been broadcast during that time. Hopefully!

Basically - this is what we can recall: There was a massive chess board and the players were the pieces. There was  a scary man dressed in black - looked a little like Darth Vader! There was aslo a lift/elevator that took you to different floors where the games were. At the end, you would go to the Penthouse and have to search for something in order to win. I vaguely remebr a person on a TV screen speaking to the contestants in the Penthouse floor.

I really hope someone can help me - cause it's really bugging me!! Thanks in advance :)

Hi Criz.

Racking my small mind I can only think that you would be referring to Incredible Games, set in a lift, with a talking computer screen, with three kids on each team, where they had to complete challenges.

The most memorable part of this show was a giant bowl of alphabet soup.

This might not be right, however.

Thinking about it slightly more, I do remember the "penthouse" stage, vaguely, from something. It must have been IG. There WAS the dark guy in black. Note that there has been a complete IG rip-off called Eliminator, right down to the scary Darth Vader guy in the black suit.

Yes - you're right!

Some of my friends recalled the giant soup bowl and I have a vague recollection of it. The most memorable thing for me is the lift and the Penthouse - beacuse I remember thinking at the time that I'd love to live somehwere like that 'when I was older' :P Thanks Bobo :)

I remember watching it in 95, however, but never 96... because I remember being in year 5 at the time. It was the main topic of conversation in my class on weekdays.

I wouldn't like to live in that soupbowl, though...

Edit: For the record, it was shown in Britain, on BBC2 but... I think may have been American. The guy in the lift that hosted it was called Gary Parker. He was American, best known for Professor Bubble, where he was friends with an eight foot pink mouse and a guy with a triangle on his head.
