Subject: Chris Isaak's Wicked Game

Written By: jj65 on 04/07/03 at 05:48 p.m.

one of the greatest music video's of all time, it oozed sexuality.

but was it made in the 90's? It was somewhere between 89-91 I think.

Last time I saw it (i think it was on one of those vh1 top whatever lists) I got a huge rush of early 90's nostalgia, it put me in a trance. What a great song, great video, and hot chick.

I think the video and song were made in 91 If I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure its 90's though. What a good looking chick in the video is right! Song and video wre tight as well.

The vid came out in April of 1991, so, technically, you're both right.

That doesn't deter the fact that the song rules!

I truly despise this song.  It prevented me from getting into Chris Isaak for a long time.

No way :D ! You should have listened to the instrumental version first. I do like some of his other songs far more though. I think it's because that one is/was waaay too over-played. Pretty much anything off his San Francisco Days and Baja Sessions is great. Some songs do have a weird, twangy Country sound and it makes me think that that's how Country should sound like, but I guess it's more of a Rockabilly thing they got going on (a bit reminiscent of Johnny Marr's work ??? ). I still don't get how "Wicked Game" could sound... bad to someone.

You and me come from very different musical perspectives, I guess.  Actually, I just downloaded this song and it sounds a lot better coming out of my headphones than it does on VH1.  Still, the chorus remains one of the most annoying things I've ever heard.

ETA:  The second verse is pretty annoying too.  All in all, it's not something I would listen to willingly.

I vote FOR it !  ;D

I'll take a different tack though, and say it's the only Isaak thing I really like   :)

I'm curious.  Since the video didn't come out until nearly 2 years after the release of the album, does anyone know why?

BTW-- if you you like Chris Isaak for his music, may I recommend his self-titled debut album from 1987. . ?  He had a minor hit with "Blue Hotel" from that album.

I have no idea why it the video was released two years later.  I do know that the song surfaced on Days Of Our Lives as a sort of love song between the characters Jack Devereaux and Jennifer Horton right before the video came out...

Hunh! That may explain it.  I thought maybe there was a movie tie-in or something.

It definitly is a "guy" type of song, because frankly that song use to bore me, first it's the song itself...that slow Hawaiian-guitar thing, ohhhhgeez...soo boring!  And then his voice, I'm yawining now just talking about it.  Then the video, which I've only seen like twice in my whole life, so I've forgtten what it's about

But, that's only my opinion, so, carry on guys carry on  ;D

8) The instrumental is awesome, but "Lie to Me" is (In my humbke opinion) his best work.

IMO, "Can't Do A Thing To Stop Me" is not only the best song by him, it's one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.  :)

Yeah! That song sounds great....if you're dead! Chicks dig that song a lot, so that pretty much forces me to be a listener as well.

The girl in the video is Danish supermodel Helena Christensen.
I'm always mesmerised by this video because she just looks so fantastic. Being shot in black and white sort of adds to the ethereal quality of her beauty.

It's too bad her nail polish is chipped and then she keeps chewing it off and her nails during the video. I suppose that may seem sexy to some.

At first Ididn't like the song, then later I liked it for it's nostalgia factor - plus it reminded me of the video. :)

Never liked the song and thought the rolling around on the beach video was pretty cheesy.

It's a great song.
It always reminds me of the Friends episode called "The one where Ross and Rachel.....you know" as it was playing in the background when they consummated their relationship in the planetarium at ross' musuem!!

I'm afraid I've got to agree with Kenny. It is awful! He sounds as though he's had a bit too much to drink. That song has probably put me off Chris Isaak.
