Subject: Think of time this way...

Written By: Helpinghand on 04/21/03 at 02:06 a.m.

it's kinda funny to think about time this way..the early 90s seem like a while ago (to some)..but not that long ago, right? well now they're closer to the 70s in time than to today! that makes me feel old! Other examples of this:

I was born on 3/24/77..26 years and 1 month ago..but that is actually the same time away from Feb 1951..so the time I was born was closer to the Korean War than today!

"Like a Virgin" is several years closer in time to "Let it Be" than it is to today's music.

Gulf War I, in early 1991..was 12 years and 3 months ago. Though only 11 years and 1 month ago it was still the 70's!

Kinda interesting perspective

cool

It's weird, my grandpa was born in 1929, he's 73 now. So when he was born, 73 years ago meant 1856, pre civil war, horse and buggy, no tv, radio, no electricity. The camera was just being perfected.

I joke with my dad, born in 1943 and just turning 60..he is closer associated with 1884 than 2003.that makes ME even feel old!

I was born in 1986, equidistant from 2003 as 1969. That does worry me slightly... I can't remember it.

Let's see, I was born in 1980, so I'm 23 now.

    7,
 1980
-   23
 1957

So that means I'm closer to 1957 than 2003?

No. You're the same amount of time from '57 as you are from this year....as am I, since I was born in 1980

I was born in 1976 and graduated high school in 1994.

When I want to get the perspective of a lot of these teenagers around now, I just remind myself what I thought of of the early 80's or 1984 back in 1993/1994.  Shudder...Early 80's....shudder.  That's what kids think of the early 90's, and even mid 90's today.  And whatever I thought of 1979 is what they think of 1989.  I know I didn't think kind thoughts to anyone that graduated high school before 1987.

It IS very weird, and VERY DISTURBING how time flies and how we switch roles in a blink of an eye.  One minute you're the punk teenager, the next you're the old school 20 something guy that's thinking about turning 30 in a few years.

And another thing, recently I've been watching this old 80's show that I used to love as a kid.  I guess I was around 11 or 12, and the characters keep talking about stuff that happened 14 to 19 years ago.  I remember I used to think that was SO LONG AGO back then.  They were talking about the Vietnam War and stuff like that from the early 70's.

Then it hits me, that I'm thinking back to 1987 or 1988 when I first watched this show, which was 15-16 years ago!!  My God, that's what these kids today think of that time!  They think the same thing we used to think!   :-/   :-/  :-/

Getting older sucks.  :'(
