Subject: Late 80s, early 90s clothes

Written By: nikki_sixx on 08/26/03 at 04:38 p.m.

Hi, I'm working on a film project (to be set in the late eighties and early 90s on the West coast) and while I've found tons of sites describing what clothing was popular at the time, I'm having a hard time finding any pictures. Does anyone know of any website that might have any images of late 80s/early 90s fashion, (or shots from old magazines) or know of any good books I could look at?  Anything would be helpful.  Thanks!

:)

Why not just watch popular TV shows or movies from the early 1990's?

Shows like Saved by the Bell, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Matters and Beverly Hills 90210?  Or the first few years of Seinfeld or X-Files?

For movies I recommend Singles, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Jurrassic Park, Kindergarten Cop, A Few Good Men, Ace Ventura and I think Pulp Fiction.  These were good movies that I remember, they may assist in remembering the fashions of that part of the 90's.

Early 90's fashions weren't nearly as over the top or gaudy as the typical 80's clothes.  But there was still plenty of neon, spandex, and the occasional big hair or mullet here and there that gave that time a bizzare kind of hazy late 80's feel.

Yah, I've watched a bunch, but i have to give the woman who's doing costumes some stills ( I know, she should just watch the shows right?)--I can try doing screen grabs of the films and tv shows, cuz I'm not sure how easy it is to find old magazine images.  I know a few libraries have old mags so I may check that out too.  thanks for the advice--I totally forgot about saved by the bell, and i'm not really sure how that is as i used to watch it quite a bit.
