Subject: grunge song I remember, but not too well

Written By: Chrisrj on 12/19/03 at 04:49 a.m.

I kinda need help...

I remember this grunge song, I think it's from 1992, where there are lyrics that go like, "I'm going hungryyyy... (going hungryyyYYYY)" as part of the chorus... I don't remember the band or the title.

I know it's not much to go on, but any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

The song is "Hunger Strike" by Temple of The Dog.

Here are the lyrics:
I don't mind stealing bread
From the mouths of decadence
But I can't feed on the powerless
When my cup's already overfilled
But it's on the table
The fire is cooking
And they're farming babies
While the slaves are working
The blood is on the table
And their mouths are choking
But I'm growing hungry

This Seattle based group consisted of Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden with the surviving members of Mother Love Bone (Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard) and Eddie Vedder, later of Pearl Jam. Definitely one of my favorites back then.  ;D

Thank you very much ;D

I saw the video on MTV2 once, and I remembered the band and video once, but forgot it again.  That helped me a lot:)

FYI- Temple of the Dog was a tribute band fronted by then Soundgarden, now Audioslave lead singer Chris Cornell and members of the band Mother Love Bone.  Andrew Wood was MLB's lead singer and friend and roomate of Chris Cornell's that died of a drug overdose.  Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard were MLB's bassist and guitar featued in the song and later fomed Pearl Jam with the 2nd singer in the tune, Eddie Vedder.
The whole CD is great, I recommend picking up if you want to hear some great music of the era.
