Subject: What's the difference between the 90's and 00's

I think the decades are about the same.

Simple: the 90S, by definition, consist of the years 1990 through 1999, while the 00S, by definition, consist of the years 2000 through 2009. I thought everyone knew that. ::)

One of the differences I see are the amount of reality shows. There are way more in the 00's than the 90's.

The only difference is that lyrics are progressively becoming more "subliminal"    To those that have ears!

the difference....

dance music is not as good as the 1990s  :'(

you can listen to WHIGFIELD's SATURDAY NIGHT and reminisce about hearing this track at a nightclub on a Saturday Night in 1994.  Can you say the same thing for 50 Cent or IAN VAN DAHL when the 00s are over in 6 years?

 HERE WE GO AGAIN!

Ok...How are the 90s and 00s about the same?...we had 2004 SAAB vehicles, cell phones, AOL, DVDs, talking mini vans, robotic pets and laptops with all the latest technology in 91  ??? WOOOW!  SO TECHNOLOGY'S BEEN THE SAME EVER SINCE?

Did kids in the 90s grow up watching  American Idol and boring reality shows too?  THERE WERE MORE FAMILY SHOWS AND MOVIES IN THE 9DEEEEEEEES! HELLOOOOOOO!

And jee, I guess Justin Timblo-whatever his face is, Britney Spears and  J-Lo and had a number one song in 97 also!  Their music is really old then because they've been around forever!

And I guess every girl in 1994 dressed like Christina Aguilera, and all you guys in 2004 still have that Luke Perry 90210 look.

You're right...nothing has changed! Everything's been exactly the same for fourteen whole years  :o

*SIGH* another Decade vs Decade thread. WHEN WILL ALL THE COMPARING END!

I agree strongly this post. Its all about how good you look now. Its just very formulatic and bland now(the pop culture that is.) We need some punch and and fast.

Differences: The 90's were more upfront. It was like society was more real and honest with itself. Now we are like living in a fantasy world with all these reality shows.

The early and mid 1990's were very different from the current 2000's.  Those were the days of true grunge.

Sure technology has changed since 1997-'99....

But in terms of POP CULTURE, to me the Late 90's and 2000-early '04 are nearly identical.  You still have nothing but Late 90's stars around like J-Lo (Ok back then she was sill Jennifer Lopez, but same person), Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston and the cast of Friends, Brad Pitt, Eminem, P Diddy (Ok back then he was Puff Daddy, but same person).  The fashions of 2000-early '04 still have that 90ish retro 70's look and feel.  Despite numerous claims that "the 80's are coming back!", there is little evidence of it outside a few nostaliga mini-series programs like I Love the 80's.  Hollywood is still making movies about 70's pop culture like Shaft and Starsky and Hutch.

And like I said, all those Late 90's stars are still around.  Some of them like Justin Timberlake and the boy bands are bordline has beens.  They've worn out their welcome like 2 years ago, yet they are still hanging around for some mysterious reason.

Justin Timberlake is now a solo artist he's not just part of N'Sync anymore so that is why he is hanging around. What happened to the Backstreet Boy's? I don't see them hanging around. They have fallen like off the face of the earth. Britney Spears? Is her singing career like even alive anymore? You don't even hear about her music. She's always having the Hollywood media hovering around like when she got married for like a day or when she kissed Madonna.

As for Jennifer Aniston "Friends" has been around since 1994 so it wasn't like late 90's. P.Diddy? Where has he been? You only see him in the newspaper or on MTV creating a band. They don't even talk about his music anymore.

Following on from Rhiana's point - Does it matter?

If some things stay the same, so be it. If some things don't, again whatever but what you should do is enjoy the present. I believe the best way to do that is concentrate on what it has to offer.  :D

Actually, to follow this analogy, the difference between the 90's and 00's is the first digit ;D
