Subject: 1995

My favorite year of the 90's will always be 1995.  This was a very memorable year for me and was in my opinion the year that epitomized the decade.  I was twelve that year and at the beginning of it I moved to where I live now and went to stay with my cousin during Spring Break in March.  During that same month I also went on a trip to Carlsbad Caverans in New Mexico.  The summer of 1995 had to be one of the best summers I ever had.  I spent much of that summer going swimming at the aquatic center with my cousins and going to see movies like Batman Forever and Apollo 13 (I even still have the Riddler cup that they were giving away at McDonalds when that movie came out!)  In the fall I started junior high and had a crush on this really hot girl who rode my bus.  That fall I also went to go see Toy Story in theaters and watching Mad TV when it first came on in October (The show is terrible now but during those first two seasons, '95-'97, I thought it was the coolest and funniest show on). Towards the end of the year I started getting into Goosebumps books (and the TV series on Fox) and was watching Beavis and Butthead and MTV's Oddities on TV.

I think 1995 was a cool year not just for me but in general.  You had some good music like "Waterfalls", "Lump", "Gangsta's Paradise", and "This Is How We Do It" as well as good movies like Apollo 13, Toy Story, Clueless, Empire Records, The Usual Suspects, Seven, and Dangerous Minds.  Some people on this board have said that '94 is the best year of the 90's but I have to go instead with '95 for the reasons I have mentioned.  Does anyone else have any memories of the fads and things that happened to them that year?

A few additional things jump to mind:

First getting into Alanis Morissette's JAGGED LITTLE PILL album, the songs "A Girl Like You" by Edwyn Collins, "Queer" by Garbage, "Wonderwall" by Oasis, and "You're All I Need To Get By" by Method Man and Mary J. Blige.  I got completely addicted to the movie BABE that summer and was one of the only people I knew who got into the movie STRANGE DAYS (which I remember as being in October).  USUAL SUSPECTS was also that summer and, later in the fall, LEAVING LAS VEGAS and DEAD MAN WALKING were pretty darn great too.

1995 was not bad at all, as I recall.

Class of 95 BABY!!! What a great year. Well, except for losing to the guy above me's team in the regional final of the NCAA Tournament. It's okay, we bounced back to win the next two of three.  :P

Another great thing about 1995, in my opnion anyway, was it was the year the Atlanta Braves finally won the World Series, though unfortunitly they have choked every year since.
