Subject: Anybody remember Mr. Big?

Anybody remember that band? They kinda kept that old 80s hair band thing going and they had the One hit Wonder song "To Be With You." That song and album seems to have dropped off the face of the planet. Just curious if we have any closet fans on here. -Liz

"To Be With You" was the coolest song!

I think I saw a clip of their video being advertised in one of those Monster Madness or Metal Madness (or whatever) compilations of metal ballads. Of course I remember that band and I think that I saw their album at the local Circuit City (maybe not). I'm not too much into the "hair bands," "spandex bands," late 80s Glam Rock - and I wouldn't include Foreigner (anyway, they're a 70s band) in that category (they're a little more "serious" about their sound than, say, Motley Crue or Poison). I like that song along with "More Than Words" by Extreme (I think they're on the same compilation - this Friday I'll probably get it...).

Mr. Big was a 90s band, that song was released in 1991....just thought you'd like to be correct...

Yeah, I knew that, but Mr. Big did have the style of the forementioned musical movement, and are featured (if I'm not mistaken) in one (or more) of the Metal Ballad compilations that are advertised on television. In these compilations, the company includes the late-80s metal-hair-spandex-glamrock as well as rare gems like Foreigner (there was one where Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" and Cheap Trick's "The Flame" were included...).
Nothing against this musical style, but I would not pair up these songs (and bands) with metal bands like Ratt, Poison (ugh), White Snake, Triumph, Motley Crue (ugh), Twisted Sister (THIS band I do like a lot), Warrant (another cool band), Winger (ugh), Slaughter (they're alright), etc. Heck, I wouldn't even put them in the same compilation as Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, Motorhead, etc. I deviated waaay of subject without explaining in the last post...

Dude! I just checked the local record store and they had two Mr Big albums (one released in like 1993 and the other - I think - in 1999), but not the one with the hit song "To Be With You." I was going to buy the Monsters of Rock compilation, but then I saw a double-cd set for The Pixies.....
