Subject: I'm lazy.. but I'm thinking..

Written By: ChuckyG on 2/27/2001 at 9:52 a.m.

I would like to continue my timeline into the present decade, since I know a lot of school kids use it (at least as a good jumping off point).. does anyone have a good list of events from 2000 for me to start off a list with?

How about a 60's or even a 50's. They would be easy to research, especially the music, movies and TV. It would be fun to go before my time and ask questions. (I always thought of myself as a Flower Child even though I was only 3 when Woodstock rocked.) The expanded timeline might even attract more interest, from that generation, and the ones growing now (what a homework site).
I would find it facinating, even if I could only listen instead of kibitsing.

I know this is kind of boring and redundant, but how about the U.S. election? The submarine tragedy in the Barents Sea? The World Trade Organization protests (which means there are people still trying to fight "the man")? More infighting in the Balkans and the overthrow of the Yugoslavian dictator. The Austrian election and the resignation of Nazi-sympathizer Heider (it seems those people have a loooong way to go before they learn anything from the past). The demise of the dot.com craze in Nasdaq. Middle east turmoil (so what's new?).

At least that's what's popped into my mind right now...

And the Olympic Games. Or has everyone forgotten the good things that happen?

I can't believe I totally forgot about that! But the thing is, I watched like 25 minutes of it total since here in SoCal most of it aired at ungodly times (midnight through dawn) and the rest of it had made the front page newscovers of most papers before it had even aired! NBC has been doing a pretty horrible job in programming for god-knows how long (they're the idiots that canceled Freaks And Geeks in exchange for 21 and Battery Park - both shows failed miserably in the ratings...sigh).

Hehehe. Well being from Australia, it was hard to get away from it, so I went to another state for two weeks. Actually the Olympics here were really only a big deal for us Aussies. It was just all I could think of at 2am when I made the suggestion.
