Crash into Me- Dave Matthews Band
These Are The Days- Natalie Merchant (might've been '95....)

What is Love- Haddaway

1. "Crash Into Me" was 1997.
2. "These Are The Days" was like, 1992, and Natalie was still with Ten Thousand Maniacs at the time. She did, however, release her debut solo album, Tigerlily, in 1995 and had hits with "Carnival", "Wonder", and "Jealousy". (The aforementioned two songs were hits in 1996.)
3. "What Is Love" was 1993.

Anyway, a few I remember from '96 are "Standing Outside a Broken Phonebooth with Money in My Hand" by Primitive Radio Gods, "1979" by the Smashing Pumpkins, "Macarena" by Los Del Rio, "Because YOu Loved Me" by Celine Dion, "Give Me One Reason" by Tracy Chapman... the list goes on...

You may be right, but it was a hit in 97. Only people who had a copy of the album heard it before '97. And I'm not one of those people.

Ah yes....1996, the year I became a young man in a world so innocent....lmao!!! ;D

The top 20 tracks of that beautiful year, for me, goes like this:

1. Busta Rhymes -- Woo Hah (Got You All In Check)

2. Dune -- Hard Core Vibes

3. Tribe Called Quest -- 1nce Again

4. Planet Soul -- Set U Free

5. Tupac Shakur -- Bring The Pain *from All Eyes On Me*

6. Ginuwine -- The Bachelor

7. Ghost Town DJs -- My Boo

8. The Fugees -- Ready or Not

9. Cake -- Going The Distance

10. Beck -- Where It's At

11. Eminem (before he was overrated) -- 313

12. Mariah Carey (before she started to suck) -- Always Be My Baby

13. Lil Kim -- Hardcore

14. Underworld -- Born Slippy *featured in Train Spotting*

15. Towa Tei -- Dubnova

16. Tracy Bonham -- The Real

17. Prostars -- Wakeup *from Trancemission from Raveland*

18. Daft Punk -- Homework

19. Armand Van Helden -- Funk Phenomena

20. LL Cool J -- Hey Lover

Some of these tracks you may have never heard of before.  I listened to a lot of weird stuff in '96.
It's cool though, I love variety, eh? 8)

Me too. I was in high school in '96 as well. :)

Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground
I'm afraid that one was from 1997. Was it recorded in 1996? If so, was its album released then, too? It was still a hit in '97, at least here in the U.S.

"December" - Collective Soul
"Follow You Down" - Gin Blossoms
"Breakfast At Tiffany's" - Deep Blue Something
"Hand in my Pocket" - Alanis Morissette
"Name" - Goo Goo Dolls

I may be a little off in years. But I'm close enough.

I thought this was the last great year for mainstream music. So many good songs. '96 had a bunch of good songs, now you're lucky to find 3 songs a year, that are at least "decent".
