Subject: Comeback poll: Swing Revival vs. Disco Revival

IMO, I enjoyed the swing revival because the dancing looked great, the Gap commercial was classic, and many great music from Brian Setzer, Squirrel Nut Zippers, & Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. 8) Not to forget the movie "Swingers".
Though came around the same time as the disco revival, which I didn't like.

-Disco-
I still remember how big it was when Gloria Estefan released her 90's rendition of "Turn The Beat Around", originally done by Vicki Sue Robinson. ;)

My parents grew up in the original Swing era...so when I heard Brian Setzer I liked it. As for disco...I survived the 70's AND 90's ::)

I was 20\21 so I can claim neoswing as a forgotten item of my youth. I knew it wouldn't last because it was treated as a novelty rather than something new or updated.
As for Disco, I for the life of me can't figure why I ending up liking it, maybe it was being traumatized by watching Xanadu at such a tender age (on TV, not the movies) For some reason I've had a tradition for the past 4 years on Saturday night of playing "Parasite Eve 2" while listen to the disco retro program. Weird.

Disco. Popular group N-Trance capitalized on it with several disco classics. I loved it 8)

Swing. I saw the Brian Setzer Orchestra in an old dance hall (nearly 100 years old) in Omaha, and it didn't take much imagination to feel like I had time-warped 50 years back. It was definitely one of the coolest concerts I've ever been to. The swing revival also turned me on to a lot of music that I never had previously perceived as cool, like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Dean Martin. On the other hand, I thought that all of those people who were dressing up in zoot suits and learning how to jitterbug in the late 90's were mainly hipper-than-thou types who were just latching on to the latest trend.
