Subject: Songs of 1999 (sequel to Songs of 1998)

Written By: Kyle on 08/25/04 at 1:59 pm

Do you know any songs (other than listed below) that hit the charts in 1999.  Jut wondering...   ;)

98 Degrees:It's the Hardest Thing I Can Do
Suga Ray : Every Morning   :)
Britney Spears:  Baby One More Time
Summer Girls  ;D

Another question:  Do you think some of the songs that are popular in 1999 are still popular in 2004?
2004 and 1999 are pretty much alike, you know.

Reply soon... ;D

2004 and 1999 are pretty much alike, you know.

I know they're pretty much alike in terms of the calendar, especially from March 1st. Today is Wednesday, August 25th; in 1999 August 25th was a Wednesday as well. I know very well how often the calendar repeats and all that; it's something I figured out on my own when I was younger.

Anyway, I know lots of songs from the year 1999; too numerous to mention here. (By the way, during the first half of the year, I was in my first year of college; during the second half of the year I was in my second year of college.)

A few of them that I know:
"I Want It That Way" by Backstreet Boys
"American Woman" by Lenny Kravitz (cover of a Guess Who song)
"Sometimes" by Britney Spears
"Livin La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin
"Smooth" by Santana featuring Rob Thomas (of MB20)
"Steal My Sunshine" by Len
"Genie In A Bottle" by Christina Aguilera
"I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden

and the list goes on..

I didn't necessarily say I liked some of the songs I mentioned...although "Sometimes" is one Britney song I actually like.

Others that I remember...
"Mambo #5" by Lou Bega
"If You Had My Love" by J. Lo. (her first hit single as a musician)
"Believe" by Cher (I hate that one)
"Bailamos" by Enrique Iglesias
"Better Days" by Citizen King (a one hit wonder)
"Take a Picture" by Filter
"All Star" by Smash Mouth

And I know most of the ones you mentioned as well. ;)

I despise most of the songs listed here with an unimaginable passion. But I did lke a couple, like the New Radicals, and Eiffel 65, and definitely Robbie Williams, but you forget that in the States he also released "Angles" as a single in 99. This was a great song and it's been remade by some awful pop-$lut, probably Jessica Simpson.
