Subject: Favorite "Beavis & Butt-Head" character

Written By: woops on 10/06/04 at 8:13 pm

My choices: Besides "All of the Above"... Beavis, Butt-Head, Mr. Van Driessan, Daria, and Todd.

I picked Beavis, Cornholio, Butthead. I wish that they would've done the boys justice and made a final episode with them jamming Todd's exhaust pipe up his butt :)

Unfortunatly everyone of those characters could be found at my Highschool. However the closest was the Hippy teacher who was exactly like my "Native American studies" teacher, down to his use of the word "ok".

All of the above for me.

If we boiled it down to the two of 'em, I'd slightly prefer Butthead, though. He's a little smarter (emphasis on "a little" - neither one of them would score very high on their SAT's, I'm sure!), whereas Beavis is more erratic and goofy. Then again, he's a little more expressive too.

As for the others, I like Buzzcut even though he's a jerk. You just know he practically wants to kill the two of them every time he sees 'em. For a contrast, the laid back hippie Van Driesen is good too.

Daria (whom they called "Diarrhea") wasn't in it enough, but I always got a kick when she'd point out to them basically how stupid they were at any given instance. ;D

I like Butt-head better because he's more laid back and he's a little smarter than Beavis.

He was. That's probably why he bosses Beavis around to a point. They're both pretty stupid of course, although Butthead's sense of logic is a little higher, and he always insults Beavis for being a "dumb*ss". Although Beavis is more wild and unpredictable, depending on his mood, which makes him interesting.

Speaking of characters, did anyone ever notice a sort of parallel between Stewart and the guys, compared to them with Todd? Like, he always wanted to hang around Beavis & Butthead and viewed himself as their friends, sort of blind to the fact that they thought he was a dork and wanted nothing to do with him? I always felt sorry for Stewart because of this. Yet they were that way with Todd too (only they actually didn't seem to mind when he beat them up, because of how tough he was - "Huh huh Todd is cool"). ;D

Like that episode where Beavis intentionally cut off one of his fingers on the table saw in shop class?

Not to "corrupt a wish", but ask for the uncensored ones that came out later. I have the 3 DVD set that's censored (and with no music videos) and it's...well, if you want them, I'll send them to you.

The best thing to do (short of finding people who actually taped the 1994ish episodes from live television back then) is see if they pop up on youtube or Dailymotion, and to save them using Keepvid. The former is actually better and less stuff tends to get deleted. Last time I checked, there were tons of B+BH episodes people uploaded on there.

The DVD releases cut out the music video commentaries, which lots of times were the best parts of the show. Even when they ripped on a song I personally like, it's still hilarious. I think they showed at least a glimmer of intelligence there, even if only barely, lol. I actually do have a few I recorded in reruns later, but I'm nowhere close to having a full collection.

As much as I enjoy the miadventures of the Boys In Metal, I have to say that my favorie character was:

Mr. McVicker, the HS principal.

He reminds me of someone who has had way too many coffee-flavored laxatives.

I voted for all of the above, but specifically Beavis and Butthead of course, and Buzzcut was hilarious. "Kick me in the jimmy!" Everyone else was good too: Van Dreason, Mr. McVicker

Don't forget Mr. Manners, as voiced by David Spade.

"Aaaaaaahhhh! He's touching my wiener!"

-"What?!?!?"

"Uhhh....yeah! He's touching my wiener!"

-"No! That's not true, you little punk!"

"Are you the ones who rode off on my riding lawn mower?"

Butt-head: "Uhhhh....no."

"You the ones who shaved my cat's butt?"

Beavis: "Ummmmm...no."
