Good Vibrations

Whoomp! (There it is) I like the real one "Whoot! There it is" by 95-South, "Whoomp" was a blatant rip-off accepted by the mainstream!
Hold My Hand But, then again, I didn't like anything by Hootie and the Blowfish
Electric Youth one of Debbie's worst songs, followed by a stinky perfume!

Tanya

Agree. But that was from 1989.

Though she did have a minor  hit with "Anything Is Possible" in 1990 from her third album of the same name. (Which Is a fairly good song unlike "Electric Youth")

Los Del Mar? Who are they?? I thought that song was performed by Los Del Rio. Anyway, that's one that I kinda like...as well as the Animaniacs' parody of it, "Macadamia."

I also like a few of the songs listed on the poll...there are some I've never even heard.

Both Los Del Rio feat. Bayside Boys and Los Del Mar did the Macarana, depending on what Macarana compilation you picked up in '96.

I think one of the WORST of the mid 90s has to be 'Be My Lover' by La Bouche. It's the same chorus over and over and over with a rap in the middle (The rapper rapping it was different depending on what the station liked to play).

I also grew tired of both the original and dance versions or 'Missed the Rain' by Everything But The Girl. You can only listen to that song so many times.

Most of these songs were either intentionallly cheesy or just horrifically overplayed, but Limp Bizkit's "Nookie" gets my vote. Mmm Bop by Hanson sucked too, but they were like, what, 13 when they recorded that?  ;D

Dishonorable mentions for Celion Dion and Los Del Rios too.

"Barbie Girl" - Aqua  Self-explanatory.
"It's All About The Benjamins" - Puff Doody  The best is the line "let the melody intrigue you"...um, the melody is one note plunked repeatedly on a keyboard.   ::)
"Make 'Em Say Uhhh!" - Master P  This one just sounds like their rhythm machine hiccupped during a session and they attempted to make a song.

Color Me Badd appealed to 80 year olds
Color Me Badd are now in their 80s

For starters, CMB were not that old when they were around and their sound was too advanced for 80 year olds, so there can be only one conclusion

Harley, I think you fell off your Harley.  You need to realize brutha that CMB were popular in the 90s.  I know, I was there.  I was a fan! LOL

That is so funny that you say that, Philip! I was the same way!  Everyone who knew me knew I was NEVER going to see that movie.  Then my Mom visited and brought it for me to watch, after at least 10 years or more of telling me I really needed to see it.. I struggled through it with her, and I can honestly say the only thing I liked at all about the movie was watching Leonardo DiCaprio turn blue and die. And I didn't watch the credits either!  ;D

Wow, so many bad songs on the list that it's hard to pick!  ;D

Hanson "Mmm Bop"----don't mind it. There voices are so high that the song rather amuses me.
Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On"----argh! I remember in '98 I would hear this song twice a day...and sometimes even three times!
Puff Daddy "It's All About The Benjamins"---?
Vanilla Ice "Ice, Ice, Baby"----lame
Spice Girls "Wannabe"-----kinda like it
Marilyn Manson "The Beautiful People"---don't think I've heard it but don't like Marilyn Manson
Nelson "(Can't Live Without Your) Love & Affection"-----nasty
Wilson Phillips "Hold On"----hokey and unoriginal
Right Said Fred "I'm Too Sexy"---it's a fun song
4 Non Blondes "What's Up"----?
Snow "Informer"-----use to like it in highschool
White Zombie "More Human Than Human"----?
Ricky Martin "Livin' La Vida Loca"---I think this is on the top of the list of my worst songs! Overplayed and just awful!!
Hammer "Too Legit To Quit"----it's uplifting. The video was cool.
Gerardo "Rico Suave"----?
Britney Spears "Baby One More Time"---I like the video
Christina Aquilera "Genie In A Bottle"----unoriginal
N' Sync "Tearin' Up My Heart"----from an unoriginal boy band
Backstreet Boys "I Want It That Way"---even more flat music!
New Kids On The Block "Step By Step"---ha ha! Can't believe I use to think this was the coolest song!
Chumbawamba "Tubthumping"----Not bad
Aqua "Barbie Girl"---has a bad rep but this is actually one of my guilty pleasures  :-[
Paula Cole "Where Have All The Coyboys Gone"---hey if you listen carefully, it's real
The Prodigy "Firestarter"----?
Hootie & The Blowfish "Hold My Hand"----not my favorite song of their's
Master P "Make Em Say Uhh"-----uhh?
Tag Team "Whoomp! (There It Is)"---this was our unofficial h.s. anthem
Kriss Kross "Jump"----fun to dance to
Marky Mark "Good Viberations"----like how he gets his voice so high like that
Whitney Houston "I Will Always Live You"----mushy
Trixter "Give It To Me Good"----?
Limp Bizkit "Nookie"---good head thumping song
Kid Rock "Bawitaba"----? but don't like kid rock anyway
Madonna "Ray Of Light"---not my favorite but nothing wrong with this song
Michael Jackson "You Are Not Alone"----another BAD song
Metallica "Fuel"-----?
Jennifer Lopez "Waiting For Tonight"---kinda like it
Korn "A.D.I.D.A.S."----?

Other----Nothing Compares 2 U----my favorite I use to poke fun at this song

Just off the top of my head, is it just me or do most people associate the Nineties with the sillier songs (i.e. Macarena) more than the lasting ones? When people rip on the decade they seem to usually refer to stuff like that. Especially the cheesy halfway 80s hangovers from '90-92.

Like I've said so many times, there was so much good pop, dance, R&B, adult contemporary and (not grunge) alternative rock that I wish people remembered more. Not people like us, but I mean those who arent really 90s fans per se.

I'd say it's a tossup for "Mmmbop", "Ice Ice Baby" and any Limp Bizkit.

Subject: Re: Song Poll: Worst '90's Song!!!

Written By: woops on 04/30/09 at 4:26 pm

The songs are from the entire decade and mostly personal choices...

I liked some '90's alternative during my tweens/early teens, mostly from the early '90's like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana and some then current artists like Green Day & Beck, but not as much anymore except for a few of their hits. It's an ancient poll, I rarely post "worst" threads.

The Macarena-never understood the appeal of the song or the macarena dance-its corny.

I;m Too Sexy-Right Said Fred

MMM Bopp-Hanson-I didn;t understand what was so big about this song at the time but this was song was kind of a precursor of what 00's music would be like.

Here Comes The Hottstepper-Imi Kazone or something like that the artists name who did that song.

Barbie Girl-Aqua

Let my Say Uhhh-Master P.

Candy-Mandy Moore(Isn;t this song just corny now?)

Livin Lavida Loca-Ricky Martin(another corny song from 1999)

Nookie-Limp Bizkit(would do you know another bad song from 1999) I mean the song goes Nookie, Nookie get your cookie stick it up your butt.

I Touch Myself-The Divinyls-This song sounds dated and cheesey.

Back That Azz Up-Cash Money Millioinares(I'm really pouring it on 1999 music here rightfully or wrongfully.)

Any MC Hammer Gangsta Rap song-I mean MC was a good dance-pop rapper but him doing Gangsta Rap? No

Dirty Dawg-New Kids On the Block(or NKOTB as they were known at the time)-yes they tried to go hip-hop in 1994 with their album "Face The Music" I mean "Dirty Dawg" just sounded so forced for them. I think a song like their 1990 hit "Tonight"  suited them better if they wanted to survive the 90's.

Iesha-Another Bad Creation(literally-they were a poor mans "Kris Kross".)

In The Closet-Michael Jackson("Remember The Time" was the hit smash off his album "Dangerous" back at the time.)

Well heres the thing. people think all these songs are the worst is because: when it became singles, radio would play them every 5 mins. each day and everybody gets sick of it. or the singer is annoying singing the lyrics. or the songs dont make no sense. or maybe people dont like a certain artists or group. the songs i dislike is: good vibrations by marky mark and funky bunch, Mr. wahlberg, stick with acting. The sign by Ace of Base. never liked the group. Beautiful people by marilyn manson. the songs annoying, and never been a manson fan either. Now theres a few songs that people have put on their list that i kinda disagree with. like cant live without your love and affection by nelson. if you've ever seen these guys before, yes they looked cheesy they look like women. but i like the melody of the song especially the 2 guitars. Whats up by 4 non blondes. i cant stand the womens voice, but the verses and chorus is catchy and its got a great hook. Ive always thought my heart will go on by celine dion is one of the most prettiest songs. even though we all remember when it came out it got played constantly on the radio or music channels or anybodys nieces or sisters or daughters or maybe even mothers and grandmothers kept playing it constantly on their stereos in their houses.but still its a pretty song. but its just my opinion. I dont know if anybody got this one on their or not.I like REM but shiny happy people is one of those annoying songs that gets in your head. so i put that in as well.

All of the songs on the list. Well, probably except "Tearin' Up My heart", it's still cheesy but it has a cool melody on its chorus.
Anyway, or the most part I hated and still hate 90s music. It's cringe-worthy. The 80s and 2001-2004 were better music-wise imo.
One of the few 90s song I like is Promise Me by Beverley Craven, but it was recorded in the 80s and has an 80s vibe to it.
