Subject: Best Part of The Nineties

Written By: Full_House_Fan on 02/13/05 at 6:57 pm

I think 92-94 :) 90-91 was too cheesy, 95-96 too boring and 97-99 too controversial and mindless.

The mid-90s to mid-late 90s had the best music of the decade with the Pumpkins, Green Day in their peak and alot of alternative music happening. It also began the revival of indie-rock (more independent labels.etc) and a new alternative movement, but also gave birth to those nauseating boy/girl groups.

The early-mid 90s were definitely the best up till about 96. It was just such a cool period of time. 1997 is when things started changing and getting more "modern".

Let's see: I had a nervous breakdown in '92, hadn't fully recovered in '93,  had the worst boss jobwise when I moved in '95-'96, dad left in '97, had my car stolen in Denver in'98, mother died in '99.  Gee, that leaves '91, 92' and '94.

This is tough. I graduated HS in '95 and college in '99. But i liked early 90's music better than later 90s.

Rap, Rock, and the rest was better in early 90's than late. I mean come on Humpty Hump!

Ya know, I listened to that song recently and only now realized how raunchy it is.

I'm going to go with '92-94....I'm too sexy was my montra in 1992!

Obviously the 90-91 voters are really the '80s fans, but 1992-94 seemed to have a culture most unique to the decade, with 1995-96 not too far behind.  The post-Cold War world brought about relaxing tensions, and the economic expansion really started to get underway after the recession and Gulf War in 1990-91. But it was still before it got sleazy and too "fake" in the late '90s when the roots of today's tech-obsessed society started to take hold. You had the peak of '90s TV franchises like Seinfeld, The Simpsons, classic Nickelodeon, a greater variety of music even if the charts don't indicate so, lots of classic movies like Forrest Gump, the peak of the Disney Renaissance, Braveheart, Mrs. Doubtfire, Clueless, Casper, Scream, and many more. It was the last time that the world remotely felt 20th century.
