Hello Everyone,
I need help! there is a song in the 90's about which I can only remember the tune and a little bit about the video. The singer is a girl, and the video is shot in black and white. The melodie is mainly formed by an acoustinc guitar, and the girl has a little bit of a deep voice. This may be the only son that was aired on the radio or TV. Can anybody help me out with this one? If you think which song, or artist I am talking about please shoot me an e-mail to ozblackaller@gmail.com

How's that a sad song? I always thought it was a very happy, optimistic song, celebrating the end of the Cold War. Or do you mean it's a sad song in hindsight, considering what's happened in the world in the fifteen years since it was released?

You are thinking of the Prince cover she did of Nothing Compares 2 U. Sinead was very haunting in that.

Nothing Compares 2 U was the name of the song. I think that might have come out around 1989. Very sad indeed.. It reminds me of breaking up with my ex boyfriend back then.

He did. It's on one of his greatest hits or live albums. If you google the discography, it will tell you which one.

I agree with the person who said Nirvana's version of 'The Man Who Sold the World' off their Unplugged album - there's just some really dejected overtone to that song, and it's almost like you can feel Kurt Cobain's sadness when he sings it. Pearl Jam's 'Black' is also a downer if you listen to the lyrics. I always thought Alice in Chains made some of the most depressing music of the decade - their most depressing, in my opinion, being 'Rain When I Die' and 'Dirt' :-\\. Also, Megadeth's 'A Tout Le Monde' is pretty gloomy.
This topic just got me in a gloomy mood >:(

My vote is for "Mambo Number 5." Sad, hell... that song is friggin' PATHETIC!
Thank you, thank you... I'm here all week! Tip your waitress!
But seriously, folks...
Might have to go with "Brick," by Ben Folds Five. I heard a radio DJ say once it was about a young (presumably teenage) couple who have to visit an abortion clinic to...erase a mistake... around Christmas time.
But I'd also agree with the posters from before who also suggest "Tears In Heaven," by Eric Clapton. I can't even imagine what Clapton went through, losing his little boy like that.

Bearing in mind that "Mambo No. 5" is a jive dance song originally recorded and composed by Pérez Prado in 1949.
