Anyone here heard of Doom or for that matter, Wolfenstein?

Yep. I have Doom 3 and, despite it's linear gameplay, is absolutely brilliant! :D

Wolfenstein...and its predessor, CASTLE Wolfenstien...were great...
but it was Wolfenstein 3-D that made the format for many of the games we have for today,
including DOOM....
Doom was great also.....the weapons were cool

I love Wolfenstein. I used to play it all the time.
I also played Doom on the old Playstation console.
I was never that good at Doom, but i kicked ass on Wolfenstein.
