I remember Big Bad Beetleborgs, Superhuman Samurai Cyber Squad, and VR Troopers, does anyone else remember these shows or other cheesy Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers ripoffs? ::) ;D

I agree. There were too many ripoffs of this show.. Its pathic.

The Power Rangers were ripoffs of the Voltron from the 80s anyways. (Color coordinated heroes)

I'd say the Voltron-type shows were more akin to their giant-robo ancesors. The sentai shows were another category of their own.

I can still remember the theme song to Big bad beetle borgs.... Same goes for the power rangers.. and I haven't seen either show in years! :o

When I lived in Hawaii as a child there was a show called Gorangers (1975-1977). The Power Rangers are very specifically a rip-off of them so far as costume, cheesiness, and basic episode plots. The biggest difference was the Gorangers were adult professionals while the Power Rangers were high school kids.

I liked VR Troopers because of that one blonde chick (whose name escapes me). After that show ended, I used to see her on some daytime soap in scenes with former Baywatch star Billy Warlock

All of these shows were pretty terrible looking back. I was still pretty young in the mid '90s, when the Power Rangers phenomenon exploded, and i remember watching most of these ripoffs. The worst was probably the Big Bad Beetleborgs, and the chessiest was without a doubt Masked Rider.
