Subject: How old were you in 1991?

Written By: Guest on 01/03/06 at 4:11 pm

1991 was now 15 years ago and was a year of major transition in my life. It was the true start of the '90s for me moving into a new house, '90s cartoons like Ren & Stimpy and Rugrats replacing the '80s leftovers like Ducktales in my TV viewing, and getting a Super Nintendo for Christmas to replace the old Nintendo I had had until then.  It was really the year when what I could remember of the '80s ended. I was 8 that year, how old were you?

I suppose they're gonna make a thread for each year?

How old were you in 1991?
How old were you in 1992?
How old were you in 1993?
How old were you in 1994?
How old were you in 2005?

Wouldn't it be easier to find the thread in PPP where everyone posted their age and just subtract 15 from whatever they posted?

Anyway, I was 6.  8)

9 and 10.

Ever since then, I've always remembered 1991 as the year of VH1, Ernest movies, Gallagher, and Super NES games for me. Although it wasn't the happiest time on a personal level, some of this stuff helped make it a teeny bit cooler. :)

I was 4 for a good part of the year. It's the first year that I have any real memory of. I can recall a number of personal memories from 1991. I used to play with my toy cars back then. I had a number of them troll things as well. I also had a toy computer called the lesson one. No video game system till 1992 when I got Super NES. I remember this lime green and black jacket I had too.

I was 10 the first 16 days, then I turned 11.  I remember first playing the Super NES and being really excited about Super Mario World.  That was also the year my school got completely renovated. I also learned that 1991 was a palindrome year(where it's spelled the same backwards and forwards).

MTV had a dance party program every Friday Night.  Everybody dance now, Finally, I Love Your Smile, Gypsy Woman(La da dee), people are still having sex, all that good old fashioned dance music...

Of course, that was also the year this one kid started punching me in the face every day after school(for 3 days).  I eventually told the teacher about it, and the little monster finally got chewed out!

That was like, totally gnarly, dude.

Curious on why the thread maker decided on the year 1991. Seems like a random year to choose. Unless their is something significant about 1991 that I don't know about (well besides it being an supposed major transition in the top poster's life, I think).

I think that's probably about right.

It's really amazing how much the "demographics" of this board have shifted over the years. When I first joined in 2006, there really weren't that many other teenage/early 20's people on the boards at that time. In fact, It seemed like the majority of members where somewhere between 35-40, if not even older.

When I first joined in 2006, there really weren't that many other teenage/early 20's people on the boards at that time. In fact, It seemed like the majority of members where somewhere between 35-40, if not even older.

Damn. I thought they were in their late 20s or 30s, since most of them liked the 80s. I guess they were adults in the 80s as well. Maybe it's because of those who were born in the 90s, it changed the demographic towards InThe00s. Although I joined here because I wanted to talk about the 2000s without defending it for so long. That and I wanted to talk to mqg96 on a different site.

I think that's probably about right.

Really? There seemed to be a lot of 1985-1990 borns in the 2006 threads. Or maybe that speaks to the type of threads getting bumped lol.

There's a good possibility that the "demographics" of InThe00s will change again in five years time. By the time 2021 rolls around, people born in the Early 2000's will be between 18-21 and people born in 2008 will be old enough to join these forums.

Old memes die hard, I suppose. Either that or the guy needs to be a better singer.

Anyways on topic within about 10 or so years I wouldn't be surprised if less than 5% of this forum of people who weren't around in 1991. Kind of curious on how many 2000s born we'd have by 2026 or so.

Yeah, you could say that us 1985-1990 people on the site at that time had something of our own "clique" that posted mostly on the decade boards, so it does skew things a little bit with all of these old topics getting bumped. The '80s board was also much more active back then as you had many more posters born in the '60s and '70s who grew up during that time period that were still regulars here.

I wouldn't really mind either, to be honest. It would be interesting to hear their opinions on certain topics, such as whether they consider themselves to be a Gen Y/Z Cusp or solely Gen Z. At my high school, about 75% of all students were born in the Early 2000's. In a few weeks, it will probably increase to 90%, because Year 12 (1998/1999 borns) graduate on the 22nd September and the year group I am in (which is made up of people born in 1999/2000, will be the top year group. Next year, people born in 2004 start high school!

When you think about it, it's strange that we are the last group of people to make up a "majority" on this website. You would think that more people born in 2000 and 2001 would be on this website too, considering the fact that they turned/are turning 16 and 15 years old this year, respectively. As for myself, I personally have a few friends who were born in 2000 and two friends who were born in 2001, however i'm not friends with anyone born from 2002 onwards. Admittedly, people born in 2001 are the youngest group of people I communicate with on a regular or occasional basis.

I guess Australians go to high school when they're 13. In the United States, we usually start high school when we're 14. This year, we're going to have people born in 2002 as freshmen.

You were actually -8 for the first half and -7 for the second half.

You're still negative 0 in late 1998/early 1999, and hit your minus first birthday in 1998, then you work backwards from there. :-X

Yeah, you were born on November 29, 1988 (checked the calendar). Your birthday is exactly 6 months from today.
