Subject: Opera in the 90's - Andrea Bocelli, The Three Tenors, etc.

Written By: ultraviolet52 on 04/30/06 at 12:47 pm

Andrea Bocelli became internationally known around 1997 and 1998. And the Three Tenors became famous mainly just due to their three top calibur performers - Lucianno Pavarotti, Jose Carreras, and Placido Domingo. I think the three tenors were famous in the mid-late 80's, but carried through into the 90's.

Did anyone fancy these performers, or other operetic performers beside the above mentioned?

I have never been interested in operatic style music until Josh Groban came out.....he is (IMO) the best out of all of them. I could listen to him sing for hours! ;)

Sarah Brightman is also a favorite of mine. I wasn't sure if I should consider her opera or not, so I didn't include her, but I suppose she's right within that realm.

I love her duet with Andrea Bocelli "Time To Say Good-bye"

I prefer her solo version on "Classics".

I like both, but to me, without Andrea Bocelli's vocals, something seems missing.

I remember the Three Tenors during the 90's. In fact, they performed at Dodger Stadium in July 1994 (one month before the infamous baseball strike began).

And Andrea Bocelli...yeah, he was popular during 1999-2000. He performed a duet with Celine Dion, but I forget what the name of that song was. We have a copy of the recording here at home, so I could check.

Andy Kim and Little Richard also share the same birthday as me.  They should all get together and become the new Three Tenors ;D

Something about that sounds right. You could research that and check it out.

No, the 3 tenors sued Dominos, becasue they imitated them.
