I wouldn't say so. I'd say they were very, very transitional.

I think the mid '90s and later were part of it.

I'd say in the States, 1995 up is. Elsewhere maybe 2000 up, for the developed world.

I don't know Europe was pretty advanced by 95 probably so was Japan.

Sometime around when Windows 95 came out. So it would probably be from the second half of 1995 up. But I stil think the '00s are the true digital age.

'80s and '90s are the transitional phase. '80s and early '90s are more analog, late '90s more digital.

That sounds about right because I remember around 1993 when we got our first cellular phone. The thing was huge. We only used it in the car and the whole thing was in a bag. The bag held the battery, antenna, etc. If I can find it again, I'll see if I can post some pictures of it. It turned up about 2 years ago when we were cleaning out the basement.

I think when Windows '98 came out, like 1989-1999 was the first totally digital age year, though I think of everything from 1982 up as the early digital age.

Yes, the groundwork for the 'digital age' - like computer processors, the internet, satellite communications - were quite advanced in government circles in the 80s and 90s. The 90s saw the 'democratisation' of this technology and its distribution to the masses.
