Anybody under the age of 13 should not read this, and if you do, you should not repost this.

Just because you were born in '97 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid.

It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons. I am sorry but three conscious years of the 90's just wont cut it.

You're a 90's kid if (fill in w/X's):

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!
You just cant resist finishing this... "Iiiiiiin west philladelphia born and raised..."
You remember TGIF on ABC. Step by Step, Family Matters, Dinosaurs, and Boy Meets World.

You remember watching The Magic School Bus, Wishbone, and Reading Rainbow on PBS.
[]You remember when Yomega Yo-Yos were cool.
You remember those Where's Waldo books..
You remember when Mortal Kombat wuz tha sheesh!
U remember eating Warheads.(those sour candys)
You remember watching the 1st Batman, Aladin, Ninja Turtles, and 3 Ninjas movies.
U remember Ring Pops.
U remember drinkin' Fruitopia and Surge.
[] if you memeber when every thing was "da BOMB"
when they made the new lunchables so that you could make tacos and pizza!!
You remember boom boxes vs. cd players
[] Writing M.A.S.H. notes. (and the twenty different versions of that)
[] Making those little paper fortune cookie things.. and then predicting your life with them.
[] You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"
You played and/or collected "Pogs"
You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere
You haven't always had a computer, and it was cool to have the internet.
You watched the original cartoons of Rugrats, Power Rangers, and Ninja Turtles.
[] You had a favorite New Kid on the block, and you knew all of there names

When we were younger:

Before the MySpace frenzy...

Before the Internet & text messaging...

Before Sidekicks & iPods...

Before MIKE JONES...

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX...

Before Sponge Bob

...Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night.

When light up sneakers were cool.

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded stuff on VCRs .

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

When 2Pac and Biggie where alive.

When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

Way back.

when it was all about N64.

WHEN MAKING OUT WAS HAVING SEX

WHEN YOU TRADED POKEMON CARDS FOR A LIVING

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

Post this in your bulletin if you remember these days ....
If you grew up in the 90's you've gotta read this

A lot of that stuff applys to me even though I was farily young in the '90s. But age means nothing in my book.

Great list. :)

I'll go through each one later, but I'd say at least half of those apply to me. And even the stuff I didn't pay too much attention to (i.e. "kid stuff" I may have thought I was too old for when I was 13 around 1995), I've come to miss now too. Heck, alot of it is still relevant to me - i.e. I still record VHS tapes off tv, and frequently make mix tapes.

P.S. Unlike alot of these sort of things, I totally agree with the OP of the MySpace poll, 13 is about the right age to remember most of this (b. 1992 or '93 is old enough to be a '90s Kid, IMO).

These lists are fun to read.  There's a few different versions of them out there, but they all pretty much touch on the major aspects of being a 90s kid.

I haven't seen one of these lists that have the game M.A.S.H. (Mansion, Apartment, Shack, House) on it though.  I haven't thought about that in years.

As much as I hate to revive a 14 year old thread, This is where all the "True 90s kid" stuff began. Right there. Before it got really obnxious a few years later. And even the "Before...XYZ" Stuff is now becoming nostalgic. Sidekicks, classic iPods, Original Xbox and PS2, Mike Jones (who?  ;)) and Myspace.

2005-2015 was pretty much the peak of online 90s nostalgia. In 2015-2018, the internet briefly moved into early 2000s nostalgia, then in 2018-2020 it moved into LATE 2000s-early 2010s nostalgia.

I was an 80s kid and quite a few of those things applied then too.

I can see how 1997 babies have a late 90’s influence in their childhood I mean they were kids of the early 2000’s . Wasn’t like we were living in different worlds from 1998 to 2002. But in terms of mid 90’s culture they will not remember that.

I was an 80s kid  :P

But, I remember everything listed and then some more...since I was a teen in the 90s. I think teen culture in the 90s had many differences.

Just as long as it doesn't restart that ridiculous "90's Kid War" that happened here about 8-9 years ago. People actually were getting banned over that nonsense.  ;D
