Subject: The Perfect 90's "Pop" Song
Written By: WalkerP20 on 09/27/06 at 5:04 am
The Poll is just full of suggestions by me. Feel free to go ahead and choose "Other" if you don't pick any of the above, but please explain your choice ;)
By my definition of the Perfect "Pop" Song, I don't mean "Pop" as in Bubblegum Pop, but more so the Catchy/Pop-Rock type of song that everyone could enjoy

Sticking to that list I'm voting Del Amitri "Roll To Me".

I picked "Unbelievable" by EMF. So catchy, and I've never gotten sick of it.

I picked "She's So High" by Tal Bachman. Kind of overplayed, but I still enjoy it. Tal had alot of great hits. I wonder when his next album is due

There are so many good picks on the poll list there...I just can't think of one. So maybe I'll pick "other" to represent "more than one of the above."

Roll To Me - Del Amitri
I can still listen to this song and groove along to it.

I don't know if I'd call the remix "pop". She did one with Puff Daddy and another with ODB. Very un-pop artists.

"Lovefool". Probably one of the best pop songs of the 90's.

Before looking at the list I immediately thought Mr Jones by counting crows, so when to my delight I saw it on the list I voted for it without hesitation. :)

'Lovefool', but mainly because of the album it came off, 'First Band On The Moon.' I actually think there were some better tracks on the album, but I guess that's just me.

To me 1994 was the absolute perfect "90s Pop" year in terms of balance.
It had some grunge and traces of "early '90s" music, but was the first year that felt like it was on the same ground, say 1997 was. Not that music sounded the same then, it didn't, but it's almost like 1994 was the first year 1997ish music could have been popular, ya know?
I also find it interesting that alot of the same musical styles were popular in '93 and '94 (i.e. reggae hits, electronica, a few newer songs by '80s/veteran artists, alternative rock, Disney ballads). 1993 seemed to get the rockier side of things, while '94 got the pop half.
BTW, I like most of those songs and think they could all qualify, so it's hard to pick.
