Subject: Smart E's - Sesame's Treat
Written By: whistledog on 07/08/07 at 9:33 pm
Smart E's was a British Techno-Pop trio from Essex, and in 1992, they scored a massive hit called 'Sesame's Treat' which was a dance remix of the theme song to the long running children's show 'Sesame Street'. I had totally forgotten about this song until a few weeks ago. Anyone else remember it?
I'm not sure how successful it was in the States, but it reached #2 in the UK (July 1992) and #12 in Canada (February 1993)

I remember this when it came out in the UK. I actually tracked this very You Tube video down a couple of months ago ;D.
They did a lot of retro uk childrens tv sampling around this time... Trumpton, Rhubarb and Custard etc.

I have the US 12" Single of "Sesame's Treet" (Big Beat Records 1992). I couldn't give you US Dance chart positions but it got quite a bit of play on EdgeClub94 (KDGE-FM Dallas) and at Lizard Lounge in Dallas during that time.
I may have to drop that on my show soon. :D
