Subject: Right Said Fred

Written By: whistledog on 02/14/08 at 3:07 am

Right Said Fred is/was a British pop band (not a solo artist) consisting of Mark Hollins and brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass.  It's a common mis-conception that they were one hit wonders.  In America, technically yes.  World wide?  No ...

1992 - I'm Too Sexy
1992 - Don't Talk Just Kiss
1992 - Deeply Dippy
1992 - Those Simple Things / Daydream
1993 - Stick it Out
1993 - Bumped
1993 - Hands Up (4 Lovers)
1994 - Wonderman
2001 - You're My Mate
2007 - I'm Too Sexy '07

Sorry to have to correct you but it was Fred and Richard Fairbrass. ;)

Yeah Right Said Fred are well known over here in the UK, takiing their name from the Bernard Cribbins song of the 60s. They didn't do so well after 1993 so Richard Fairbrass got into television and was . . . mildly successful at best. They tried to come back with 'You're my mate' but haven't really capitalised on it.

Not at all, we all make mitsakes.  ;D

The programme Richard Fairbrass hosted was a game activity show called 'The Desert Forges'. It was like the 'Crystal Maze' but rubbish. I don't think it went beyond a series over here if that.

I liked "Deeply Dippy" but that was about it.

Really didn't like "Stick It Out" - charity or no charity!

I agree with you. I suppose it was the lads attempt at innuendo, lol. I think the track was for Comic Relief in 1993.

Well, this is the only song of theirs I know, since it was their only big hit in the US. If there was a poll, I'd vote for that one.

I can see they had lots of hits in their native homeland.

Saw a guest viewing this LOL

I still love 'Don't Talk Just Kiss' the best of all their songs.  I never really liked 'I'm Too Sexy' because it was easily the most overplayed song that year

I've never heard of Don't Talk Just Kiss if it was on the US billboards in 1992, I was really into music that year too.

Maybe if I've heard it I'd remember.

I have the 12" singles for "I'm Too Sexy" and "Don't Talk Just Kiss", the latter pressed on translucent red vinyl.
