for camp it's alright but in the terms of television programming in general it totally sucked.

CBS' Viva Laughlin tried this and failed
ABC's Eli Stone is the modern Cop Rock but they found a great way to incorporate the music with the drama of the show.

Cop Rock was a disaster, but creator Steven Bochco tried to save it by crossing over characters from his other shows into it, but it didn't work
