Subject: Let's Talk Hairdos and Dont's...

Written By: Scribbles on 12/06/08 at 6:10 pm

Victory posted an article on our site about a few hair-dos that were popular in the 90's.

http://www.the90s.net/2008/12/trends-celebrity-haircuts.html

There's a ton more that I know about that I will continue in a future Pt.2 edition. Here's a few right off the head...

- The Combover for guys - I had that.
- The Leonardo DiCaprio - Every boy band had this hairstyle
- The Scary Spice Girl - Late 90s

Feel free to add on! If I use any in a future article, I'll credit you with the reminder.

Let's discuss :)

Let's not forget "the Rachel".

I had the curtained Leo look.  :-[

As for more don'ts... the Billy Ray Cyrus / Michael Bolton ultra long mullet.

The bowl cuts.  I would one so badly but my hair was so thick and curly it was almost impossible for me to have one.

What about the curly big, but not as big as 80's hair some girls had?

Anything and I mean anything, with a scrunchie and a ponytail, especially if it comes off to the side

I wanted the undercut rocker type haircut, but my hair wasn't long enough. I tried anyway, and I had it done wrong.

No, Darlene.  :)

And another hair style that girls in my area seemed to like is the flip hairstyle from the 60's. Not as extreme as the 60's, but there would be a little flip curl.

Then the leo di caprio hair, which I never really had.

And Brenda Walsh hair as well.

The "Wet Look" should be called the "Skank Look"  It screams "I met this guy last night and he threw me out this morning and I didn't even get a chance to finish my shower.  I really think he likes me and I hope he calls again."

Ah ah, prejudice much! I hate the "wet look" too but more 'cause it always reminds me of a wet dog 8-P

I don't give too much credence to the hairdos of entertainers, that is show biz.  It is when people out in the real world think they can adopt the look and think they look alright.  As much as I hate the scrunchy/ponytail look it was o.k. on that show Punky Brewster because it was a show and it was a kid.  But when you see someone over the age of 10, out in the real world wearing it....oingo boingo  8-P

I am SO gulty of being a scrunchie wearer. I had one that matched ALL my outfits. I had solid ones, I had patterened ones. Jeweld ones, sequinned ones, even a black velvet one!

Woo--now you see why I'm hung up on the 80s, cause I know somewhere, somebody looked WORSE than I did, about 10 years before I came ont he scene! LOL!

I still find the velvet scrunchies hot on young ladies (20+ yo).

In the early part of the 90's I still sported the big 80's hair with teased bangs. By 1993 I let my perm grow out and gone completely straight. Except for a really short haircut I got in the late 90's, I've been wearing my hair straight ever since.

THE BOWL CUT!

every friggen kid in the world had that haircut at some point
and then as the fad progressed it got advanced with the shave under bowl cut LOL
and lets not forget the mullet was popular until around 1994 still.

the house party fade (least that's what I call it)
and that lopsided swoop all the TLC fans rocked

The kind of hair me and my sister had, my hair was gelled up, not exactly spikey, but sort of a Dylan mcKay look from the earlier years of 90210. I had my eyebrow pierced and my ear, and I wore a small hoop in it..

My sister, her hair was naturally curly, but it didn't look like the way girls with curly hair look like now, it was sort of bigger, but not too good, and was always the "wet" look. so yeah. we were fans of the wet look.

When her hair was straight, she would put a scrunchie in and it would also be a wet look. Her nose and belly button were pierced. And the nose ring she wore was a hoop, not a stud.
