Subject: How far does your memory go back?

Written By: Ryan112390 on 07/12/10 at 12:28 pm

For people here born between 1989 and 1991, about what year are your earliest memories from? About what year are most of your '90s memories from?

For me my earliest memory has to date sometime before January 1994, because I remember vividly walking around a home I lived in from when I was born (1990) to January or February 1994 and I remembered the layout accurately without aid of pictures or video. The memory probably dates sometime between September and December of 1993. Most of my 1990s memories however come from the year 1996, more so than any other '90s year.

I'm a '91er and one of the earliest memories I have is from, I think, the summer of 1995. I vividly remember my parents taking me to Price Club to buy The Lion King on VHS. I remember loving the movie the first time and I would watch it over and over and over again. It's still my fave Disney film to this day. 8)

I have a few images of 1995 to 1997 in preschool. and 1998 and 1999 i spent in k-2 in school so i can remember pokemon and stuff but not really the music or what the pop culture was like. it wasnt till the 00s when i paid attention to pop culture

b. 1969

Sense memories go back to the early 1970s.  The first discrete memories oriented to time and place start in 1975.  I was finishing up kindergarten.  Some people have clear memories of their third or fourth year.  I don't really.  I think I blocked a lot of it out.  It wasn't a nice time.  I really became aware of political events through hearing about the famines in Bangladesh or sub-Saharan Africa.  The first political event I followed in the news was the 1980 taking of U.S. hostages taken by the bad guys in Iran in November of 1979 to conveniently releasing them the moment of Reagan's inauguration.

I believe I have freakishly good memory. 8)

I was born in Oct. '91, and I believe the earliest memories of mine occured in Summer (probably August) of '93. I remember activities that I was doing while on that vacation, and my parents have confirmed that it was then. I think the only other memory I have from 1993 is Christmas Eve of that year when I fell on my grandma's glass table and had to get stitches.

Strangely, I have generally few memories from 1994, at least that I am certain are from that year. However, around 1995 I began to have clearer memories and I'd say most of 1996 was when I developed a full memory.

Although I am not born betwen 1989 and 1991, I'll post anyways
(Born 1963)

Earliest memory, somewhere in 1966. What a different world it is now...

I remember Expo 1967 very well as it was held in my hometown. (Montreal)
The Robert Kennedy assassination in 1968
Man first walking on the moon in 1969.
The Montreal Expos playing their first baseball game in April 1969.

Earliest memories. A long time ago.

I got memories that go back to 1988-1989.  However, I can't say I was self aware until 1994 and wasn't into culture until 1997.  Overall I am a Millenial teen(1997/8-2002/3) and my generation is of the 2000s because I spent all of my 18 to 24 years in there.

I was born in 1978, and my earliest memory is around 1982, but I may remember a little bit of late '81.

Now that I think of it, I may have a few vague memories from 1994 as well.

I know for sure I remember some things that I'm certain were in 1991 which is in line with most ~ 4 years old, and maybe a few slight things before that.

I have some vague memories that may have been when I was 2 1/2, but not sure. I know I remember as far back as 3 in 1985, though.  My memory starts to get really clear in 1988. Especially 1989.

I remember it as Expo '69-but maybe I am remember it wrong. We were there. I do remember the monorail and the 3 islands. lol I also remember when men walked on the moon.

I would have to say that I wasn't aware of time (year) until 1969 or 1970. But, I remember going to the 1965 World's Fair in NY. Don't remember much of it but I do remember being in stroller that looked like a car.

Maybe you went there in 1969, if I remember correctly many international pavilions were open in following years after 1967 (during the summer) as well as the amusement park, La Ronde

I did a search and everything says Expo '67. I'm gonna have to talk to my dad about it.

Born in '82, I have some memory with 1986 and 1987.

But I really do miss the 90's...I wish it everything 90's would return on TV and stuff.

It must have been strange to get your first awareness of the President from Clinton.

I first knew who the President was when Gerald Ford was in office.  Not too exciting.

My memory goes far back as 1993; the year Bill Clinton came into office, Power Rangers debuted (I was only 4 then), Ace of Base was at their peak, Jurassic Park was released, and the year I started preschool.
