Subject: HELP NEEDED - who knows this video/singer

At the end of the ninetees (1997???) I saw a video on TV (MTV???) of a black female singer. She wore an evening dress with a hole (on her belly or side???), she also had a piercing somewhere. In the clip she is flying in the air. Can anyone tell me who the singer is? Or the title of the song.
