Subject: Favorite Billboard Top 10 Hit From: January 1991

Written By: RG1995 on 01/24/11 at 7:57 pm

There is no doubt in anybody's mind that 1980s nostalgia was in full force during the last decade, the 2000s. It is now 2011. A new decade. If the "20 year" theory is right, 1990's nostalgia is going to hit big this decade. To celebrate the possible upcoming wave of 1990s nostalgia, I will have the community vote on the best song of the current month, 20 years ago. This month is January 1991. Usually I will have the poll in the middle of the month. Have fun!  ;)

P.S: Sorry if somebody has already done this. 128 pages is a lot to look over at  :P

Definately "Gonna Make You Sweat". It's hard to deny the era listneing to the song with its housey feel. Some of these have a leftover late '80s sound, such as Damn Yankees "High Enough", "From A Distance", and "Because I Love You", though early '90s ballads weren't much different than those of the late '80s, just with less gingerbread such as certain synths and drums.

Sorry, but these are the "Happy Days" of my time. These songs have NO autotune, at least the lyrics make SOME sense, and some songs such as Because I Love You and From A Distance have good vocals! In fact this set of songs is almost as good as one from the '60s, '70s, or '80s. Plus, rap wasn't everywhere like it has been the past 10 years or so. I even have some of these on a vinyl 45!

Someone's not a fan of 90's music.  ::)  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  ;)

I love 90s music! My town has a 90s at noon every weekday.

Definitely "Sensitivity" by Ralph Tresvant, mainly because of the Melody.

Melody-wise, the song sounded ahead of it's time. You couldn't really find any R&B Hits around 1990/1991 that had the type of sound that "Sensitivity" had. Sounded more like a song from the Late 90's.

I'm sorry, not the best music line-up.

This was just before Nirvana stepped into the door and...wow!

I am going to have agree with you.

RG, 1991 was still basically the 80s as far as everything.  The Cold War didn't end until the very end of that year.

However, if I were to pick a song in 1991, it would be this song.
