Taken from the favortie Rap era thread. Grunge ftw btw. Put it in the 90's, because that's when Alt Rock became popular

I like grunge and some late 80s rock. Anything that's better than music from the 2000s and 2010s.

i cant choose!!! i like anything from 1986 - 2005 in terms of alternative eras :(
in saying that i do like sex pistols ;)

I'm torn between the original early 90s grunge era and the emo era. I went with emo for high school nostalgia reasons :D

I Kinda partial to pst grunge era (1994-1997/1998)
you had bands like Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, etc. After that it became the Nu-Metal era with Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Korn, etc.

Same here, since I grew up with all of those bands. Funny thing, in my freshmen year of HS, a kid wrote a paper on Kurt Cobain speculating that the government killed him because he was exposing way too much information the public shouldn't here ::).
That said, I really like early 80's rock music, as it had the innocence of the 50s with a nice almost modern-twist.

I'm going with punk/new wave (1977-85). Probably my favourite musical era.

I like the new wave era of music(when considering alternative), it was very diverse, punk mixed with disco, rockabilly/50s nostalgia, jangly folk-rock 12 string guitar sounds, gothic rock, world music, and new electronic sounds were being introduced into pop music.

I liked Grunge/Mainstream Alternative: 1992 - 1996. For nostalgia reasons.

The post-punk and early alternative era was really cool, but I went with Punk and New Wave.
