Subject: - 90's school folders (need help)

Written By: devpug on 07/18/11 at 12:39 am

good morning.  i need some help regarding the brand/artist of a certain school folder.  well, folders.  lisa frank folder were obviously aimed toward females.  however, the folders i'm inquiring about were aimed toward males.  i keep wanting to say 'no fear,' but i don't recall them having any folders.  just clothing.  i can't even remember any images in particular that were on the folders.  which i know isn't much help.  it was great artwork (or at least, it seemed at the time).  early 90s.  around the same time 'goosebumps' (the book series, not the show) began.  they were available at wal-mart.  that's where my dad bought them.  i've tried so many different keywords on google.  nothing's come up.

i appreciate any help.  thanks.

I loved Lisa Frank stuff. Most "boy" folders where pictures of cars, and animals. There where folders with like cartoons on them and sheesh. Trapper Keeper made folders that had like 3d shapes all over them and looked like generic video game boards and stuff.

Lisa Frank's probably the closest thing the 90s got to psychedelia.

(Apparently I'm not the only one to think so: Lisa Frank is still on drugs :)

Now you're telling me that the artist who made these also applied the same artistic style to cars?  I'm not sure I want to see that.  (Aaw, c'mon, who am I kidding, I'm always down for a big bowl of WTF...  So if anyone can find this, let's bring it.)

Why don't we call them 'sexuality' folders if a boy buys it?  :-X ;D

OK, so those penguins don't look very badass, but that cat is straight out of a 60s acid trip.

Actually I don't think they're that bad. But they're definitely more for girls than guys.

And the 60s acid trip thing is cooool!  :o

Lisa Frank never did cars and stuff. But it's no wonder I turned out to be bisexual liking stuff like that. LOL I've actually got a few old folders and notebooks from back in elementrary school. I probably still have that Ford Synergy folder somewhere. Yeah what happened to that?

I think i know what you're talking about, and I'm trying to search for the same thing. I remember one of the folders was a drawing of a guy surfing and he was holding a shark's fin as it pulled him through the wave. I seem to remember other similar folders with sports themes, but drawn with an "extreme edginess" if that makes sense.

This thread is a few months old....did you ever have any luck?

I remember seeing a girl with a Lisa Frank backpack back when I was in preschool. I was mesmerized by it, for it was so colorful.  :D
