Subject: Was female bicuriosity already a fad in the '90s?

Written By: belmont22 on 08/02/12 at 3:39 am

I know you had songs like "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover", I think it was American Pie that there was a scene where girls were kissing girls, I distinctly remember it was a 1999 movie.

From what you remember though, was girls kissing girls seen as socially acceptable or even cool as early as the '90s or is it more of a purely 21st century phenomenon?

If you haven't seen the movie yet, I recommend seeing Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy that deals with this issue and others around 1997 or so.

I think the film Bound had some female bi-curiousity.

I knew this girl in the late 80s, she was openly gay, kissed her girlfriend in front of anyone. She didn't care what anyone else thought, or who wasn't OK with her lifestyle.

This is who Tracey was. No curiousity..wasn't a fad...no phenomenon..it's her life...it was normal to her.
I liked Tracey..I kinda miss Tracey, she had a great sense of humour.
I hope life has turned out well for her.

Yes.  It was hip.  The obnoxious and pornographic trend of chicks necking at parties to excite the guys got big in the nineties, not that it was legitimately bi.

Was it non-existent in the eighties?

I dunno, back in the 80s, I never got invited to those sorts of parties :(

I'm with MaxwellSmart: It did become rather trendy in the 90s.  But guys from just about every decade before that kinda wishes it had become trendy earlier.

I wonder when male bicuriosity will become trendy.  ::)

I'm from Massachusetts, born and bred, public displays of affection make me gag no matter who it is.  As for girls kissing girls, I agree with Max.

That's why us guys like female bi-curiousity. It's the perv in all of us.

I'd say it's slowly getting there. like female bicuriosity was slowing gaining popularity in the 90s, but wasn't as ridiculous as say 2008.

I could be wrong, but I think the whole bi-female trend was started by Madonna in the early 90's.

I didn't notice it in the 90s, but then again I was in grade school in the 90s so my mom probably wouldn't have let me watch these scenes from movies or tv shows.  ;D

Meh, it was the all-around sluttiness of the pop culture.
