Subject: Christmas songs of the '90s

Written By: yelimsexa on 12/03/13 at 8:13 am

The 1940s, '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s had their share of great Christmas songs. The '90s however tended toward remakes of classics and thus isn't as memorable. The era's political correctness vibe may have done a lot to curb creativity. However, there were still a number of good songs released even if few are still heard. I'll start with the DEFINITIVE '90s Christmas song that believe it or not only existed on a 45 in Germany and is thus a valuable collector's item in that format at around $150-$200. However in the actual '90s, most heard it as an album track on a CD, with a few stragglers on cassette:

This one from 1992 was a Top 40 hit in the UK.  Not sure why it never was a hit in North America, but that doesn't stop it from getting major radio play every year.  More than just a song in a popular movie ...

Here's one from the UK that was also NOT a hit in North America.  I swear, Europe gets all the best music ...
