Subject: Did your family experience the mid-late 90s boom?

Did you feel your family fared really well in terms of prosperity during the 93-2001 era economic boom?

My family did. We rented our house from 1991 to 1995, but bought it and owned it from 1996 to 2001.

My mom's income increased and went up but we were still building and going up. We moved to America in 1991 so it takes time to settle down in a new place.

We bought a new house in 2001 because from 1997 to 2001, our old house got infested. Not our fault, the house to our right got torn down and all their mice and roaches entered our home. Let's just say they (our neighbors) didn't really care for their house good.  :-X  :-X

Yes, even until 2007. In my memory there was more money to spend than now.

Not really, we were pretty poor in the 90s even though my dad made a lot of money on paper.

Personally, with details I am not going into here, 1995 was a big change in my life.

Not for me, 1995 was just another year. Fun, but just another year.

Same here.

My parents generally spent a lot of money on things they wanted, but me and my sister would usually only get stuff at Christmas and birthdays, and they weren't big gifts at that.  One of the biggest was when I got an N64 for my 14th birthday.  My parents hated computers/technology.  I had a hand me down computer with Windows 95 until 2003 when I was old enough to get a job and save to buy my own computer.  That is also when I finally got Internet.

I retired in 1989 and was a struggling student in the '90s. Then in 1998, I moved in with Carlos and life got a lot easier. Instead of paying all the bills with my little pension, I only had to pay half.
