Subject: In Living Color's "Men On..." Sketches

Written By: Mat1991 on 03/14/18 at 11:35 pm

I never watched In Living Color, so I'm just discovering this.

In the early '90s, ILC produced a series of sketches called "Men On..." featuring two very flamboyant, stereotypical gay black men providing commentary on various pop cultural things.

It seems like typical comedy fare of the time lampooning gays, though I do admit it's pretty funny in a cringey way. There's no way this would fly for comedy today because we as a society are more "progressive" now.  ;D

If they had returned to television I would love to see them review films of today.

They'd probably have to tone down the flamboyancy.  ;D

My personal favorite was Kim Wayans doing Crystal Waters. "I am rich, you are poor!"

It's safe to say they'd have a lot of material to work with today.  :D

Maybe. A lot of actors are resurrecting their break-through roles these days.
