I would also prefer to live in the late ‘90s over the mid ‘90s, but we should be thankful for every year Our Creator allows us to see.

‘90s culture from mid ‘90s that I like: Beavis and Butthead, Magic Eye books, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers (for the camp value),Reality Bites, and Tommy Boy

‘90s culture from the late ‘90s that is great to me: Independence Day, Space Jam (one of the most ‘90s films I’ve ever seen), Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, South Park, Men in Black

Mid ‘90s = Late ‘90s

The late 90s transition out of 16 bit gaming was awesome

King of the hill came out in 1997

They were identical.

Not quite.

Mid ‘90s = Gangsta/Grunge/Urban designer clothes/interracial friendship and love/ Prodigy internet era

Late ‘90s = Boy Bands/Girl R&b and pop groups/Global lifestyle brands/Family drama tv shows/AOL internet era

Both periods were unique in many ways, but I only named a few. Both of them were a stretch from the early ‘90s.

Early ‘90s = Pop rap/Hair metal/Afrocentric/Neon clothes/Happy pants(muscle and surfer pants)/Dancehall days/Usenet era

King of the hill came out in 1997

Thank you. I made the correction.

They're both pretty good. Mid-'90s is more classic though.

No, but if you meant that they both have similarities, I’ll name some similarities between the mid and late 90s.

-Shows like Friends, X Files, etc.
-Cartoons like Rugrats and the Simpsons
-Girl Bands like TLC, All Saints, En Vogue, etc.
-Hip Hop artists like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, etc.
-Artists like Mariah Carey
-The Classic Windows look (Windows 95 through Windows 2000)

And there’s lots more I’ll mention, but feel free to add more if you’d like

The Late 90s in my point of view has a colorful and sunshine vibe while the mid 90s was just dark and depressing.

haha. I understand that point of view. I see it a different way. I found the mid-90s to be "real" and down to Earth. The realest era I've lived through anyway.

Late 90s I think, but mid 90s has its own allure.

The mid 90s weren’t 100% dark, you had girl bands like TLC, En Vogue, All Saints, etc. And shows like Friends and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I mainly focus on the good things of decades, so I don’t know much about the dark side of the 90s, to be honest. What was dark about it?

goth, Grunge, fonts and commercials had like a grunge vibe to it, everything had to look washed out or deranged

Empire Records really encapsulates the mid 90s DARK vibe

Ahh I see. The early 90s were also better than the mid 90s in my opinion, you had Hair metal, New Jack Swing, Gangsta Rap, and shows like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Nickelodeon Studios opened for the first time (RIP). But there were dark times too like the 1992 LA Riots, and the 1991 the Gulf War, and fashion was still somewhat neon but with 90s elements, it was more colorful. I’d put it this way: Early 90s > Mid 90s < Late 90s

Early 90s had 80s fonts and designs, some were late 80s hold overs,  around 93 ish everything turned into the above poster I shared, despite being very cheery the early 90s seemed dark as well as the mid 90s lol  I would say early 90s is more dark than the mid 90s despite there being grunge.

I believe that the early 1990s were better than both the mid/late 1990s,especially when it comes to music.

Ah ok, to me it's complete opposite. The mid and late 90s are miles and miles better than the early 90s ;D.

The best part about the late '90s was the tech IMO. DVD's, MP3's, PDA's, compact cellphones, the first flash drives, the rapid evolution of the Web, 3D video games in widespread popularity, and the first cars with features like GPS and side airbags. So much of this still resonates with us 20 years later. It wasn't even the worst part of the decade for music, as autotune and hip hop hadn't yet become ubiquitous like it did in the '00s and you had better diversity in pop compared to the mid-90s. It wasn't just Britney and boy bands. You had country crossovers, latin pop, nu metal, trance, rock-rap, the swing revival, and traditional pop ballads still charting. I still think the early '90s was the best part of the decade for the music, but the late '90s wasn't the worst.

Either way, Late 90s >> 00s.

the tech part makes it less classic then the mid 90s, mix that with old ugly 3D that didnt age well
i remember the mid 90s for its great dance songs and movies like Jurassic Park
this is what i think of when i think back to the late 90s
