I think Dragon Ball Z is the earliest Anime which was released in 1989.

It came out in English in the late 90s. It rivaled Pokémon in how popular it was! I also watched Sailor Moon and Digimon.

I didn't watch DBZ until the early 2000s, which is when the Funimation Dub aired. Although I did see reruns of the Ocean version of the Saiyan-Namek sagas.

They're very much for kids/teens, at least the ones dubbed into English, so I'm not sure if you will enjoy them :P
