Subject: I actually think that Y2K was what the 90s was all about

Written By: Dj. on 10/05/19 at 5:59 pm

Been watching alot of music videos from the mid 90s lateley and Y2K aesthetics are cleary creeping in as early as 1995 (some of it as early as 93)
i assume Y2K was actually "peak" 90s culture, the 90s era was all about evolving out the 80s into the Y2K era

the 80s was about the fall of communism and hence the end of the classical 20th century, and the 90s was all about moving onto the modern technological world ending the decade perfectly with the explosion of the internet

;D you're so cute....

Can you please explain further why you feel the mid 90s had a Y2K aesthetics? I'm curious to know!

I was a teen in the 90s, and to me it started getting all Y2K-ish around 1998. Seriously. I remember that much.

^ Yeah; I do remember Y2K issues becoming common during the late 1990s, as people all around the world were preparing for it. But that's all.

i dont claim the mid 90s to be a part of Y2K just that the earliest influences can be seen during those years if you keep an eye out for them

and also im not an expert on the era since i was only a child back then, but the former user John Titor is and she said something similair on another forum

Futurism of the new millennium was a thing of the 80’s and 90’s in general. Movies like Back to the Future and Ghost busters were supposed to embody that new sense of futurism. 80’s fashion had a lot of metallics and bright colors as well. I think the more close we got to 2000, everyone started to accentuate it more and more.

Were you born in the late 90s or early 00s? Futurism was a common thing in both the 1980s and 1990s.

If you're older than me you would've known it was common back then. Nally and Jessica_Ann are both older than you and can school you lol.

Also, there were Y2K aesthetic music videos from En Vogue and Michael Jackson, both before the Y2K era started in late 1998!
