Subject: What did the 1996-1997 school year feel like?

Written By: Early2010sGuy on 10/19/19 at 8:28 pm

I heard late 1996 was the start of the short-lived late 90s era with 3D gaming and Space Jam. But seriously though, how did it feel like living in late 1996/early 1997, and what was popular at the time?

From what I heard, it was a transition from the grungy mid 90s to the colorful late 90s.

Yeah, John Titor even said that the 1996-97 transition was smooth, but of course, it's not even the Y2K era yet

Music in 1996 and 1997 was at it's best! I remember there being a futuristic vibe during that time period. Everything going digital plus the internet. Dance music in 96 and 97....IT WAS THE BEST MUSIC EVER!

That was around the time electronica was hyped as the next big thing, of course by 1998 that never quite happened but those futuristic dance sounds did become ubiquitous background music for movie trailers, ads, ect.

I basically look at this period as the start of my adolescence.

The songs I liked from the 1996-97 school year are My Boo, No Diggity, Men In Black, MMMBop, and Wannabe
