I use to drink them all the time in the early 90s. They use to sell them at the convenient stores. I called them "barrel drinks". My favorite one was always the grape flavored!

My camp counselors used to call them “jugs” in the early 90s.

There wasn’t always the Hugs label on the barrel drinks, so my counselors referred to them as jugs.

Don't they contain a lot of sugar?

They did, but I use to be so active back then I burned the calories. I was young and active, and fairly fit so sugar did nothin to me. Unlike these days, if I drink those now I would get diabetes in like 2 seconds! :o

I used to drink sugared drinks myself such as Kool-Aid and Hi-C to name a few, I was a pretty hyper kid.  ;D

They're still in production. I remember drinking Little Hugs when I was little, and even when I was a preteen.

Hugs had more sugar than Hi-C and Wyler’s combined.

But Hugs contain 10 calories and less sugars.

The makers of Hugs must have made some changes to the recipe or the knock-offs from bodegas were the ones we all had as children.

Cause kids are starting to get fat and gaining weight so most likely they're trying to cut down on the sugar that were in those drinks.

That's what most drinks are made from sugar and mostly water, they trick you when you read the container and it says contains "fruit juice".
