Subject: What Year Was Your Absolute Favorite Of The 1990's?

Written By: Videl Satan on 06/12/20 at 12:09 pm

And why?

Mine is of course 1999 from a childhood standpoint & pop culture standpoint.

Hard one but, probably 1999. 1995 though, is a very close second.

1998 with 1990 an extremely close second.

1998 was just an awesome time. I was 22 and into the clubbing scene - lived for every weekend! I was also still at college, so there was plenty of leisure time to be had.

1990 was special cos I started a new school the year before and I was well into making some great lifelong friends. The music was fresh and everything seemed positive. I also had a great summer holiday with the family.

1991. The first Gulf War ended pretty early on, and while there was a recession lingering until late in the year, I wasn't really old enough to understand at the time. The final fall of communism with the destruction of the Lenin statue in Moscow and formal dissolution of the Soviet Union. The Memphis-style design aesthetic that was big since about 1985 was still around, mixing with then-new Afrocentric designs giving the era a unique feel, in addition to house music being at the peak of its mainstream popularity, the Disney Renaissance now in full swing with Beauty and the Beast along with its Disney Afternoon block stronger than ever with Darkwing Duck, release of the SNES in North America as well as Sonic the Hedgehog, the last gasp of glam metal and the first big year for grunge, the first Nicktoons as well as many other classic Nickelodeon shows including game shows and Nickcoms, ABC's TGIF at its peak, and just far enough away from the 1980s that it could be influenced by the tail end of that decade yet still feel fresh enough to feel 1990s.

I'm not sure if my vote is significant here, because I was born in the tail end, and therefore I'm voting from a standpoint of morality rather than my own life experiences, but the year of the 1990s I like the most, for the time being, is 1998.

Because Pol Pot finally died. Good RIDDANCE to him.

1995 or 1996. Hard to pick.

For me it was either 1992, 1996, or 1999.

1998-the year I moved in with Carlos. We took a cross-country trip-first stop was for my grandmother's 90th birthday party, then on to California (my first trip there) and thanks to my sister, went to Disneyland for the first (and last) time in my life. We also took a trip to Catalina on SIL's boat (even though she wasn't my SIL at the time). I also won $300 in a slot machine when we stopped in Vegas for only a few hours.

That is quite interesting! O0

Coincidentally, I went to Disneyland twice in 1998 - first in May for my Grad Nite; then in November for my mom's birthday. (And I haven't been there since.)

I like the entire decade! I adore my teen years, 1993 to 1999.

1993: Because I became a teenager, and that Summer was amazing.

1994: Good music! Great year.

1995: Same

1996 and 1997 were amazing years.

I wish I could relive the 90s again! I miss being that young. :\'(

Can there be an option for all of them in the poll?

Tie between 1995 and 1996
followed by 1994
followed by 1997
followed by 1998 & 99

Don't really care about the rest of the 90s

1996: I turned 13 that year and I moved into a new house.

I’d say 1990. As I was a huge fan of the late 80s and early 90s music that some people called watered down. It was the debut of Wilson Phillips who was my favorite group during that time.

1997. I turned 10 years old that year. There were a lot of good movies like Batman & Robin, Steel, Titanic, and Volcano. Space Ghost Coast to Coast was at its prime. Toonami had also just started. I went on summer vacation to Malibu. It was a good year.
