What are some of your favourite albums of the 90's?

Here is the 1995 self-titled debut album by Toronto-born singer Amanda Marshall.  A modest success in several parts of Europe, and a minor success in the United States, this album did exceptionally well in Canada, spawning 7 Top 20 hits, spending almost 3 years in the chart, and was certified Diamond (1 million copies sold in Canada)

The single Birmingham was the only track from the album to chart in the US where it reached #43.  My favourite is Dark Horse.  Such a great song!

In 1993, the UK duo Pet Shop Boys released their 5th album titled Very and the original release of it came in a limited edition orange case that became known as "the lego case" as it looked like a lego brick.  Re-issues of this album saw it come in just as regular CD case showing a picture of the lego case, or the one pictured below that features a mock art of the lego case.

This was the first CD I ever heard that had a hidden track, which appears after about 2 minutes of silence following the final track Go West.  The album became their first #1 in the UK where it produced 5 hits, 3, which charted in Canada, and while none of the songs made the US Hot 100, 4 of them peaked on the US Dance chart.

Their cover of the Village People's Go West was the most famous off this album, but I'm giving the spotlight to I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing.  It's really fun to sing along to

Okay, now it's time for someone else to reply to this thread...

I'll admit that The Sign by Ace Of Base was one of my favourites when it was climbing the charts c. 1994. :) (I loved the title track, plus two other tracks that were hit singles. I received a copy of it from my family as a graduation gift from middle school.)

And to a lesser extent, Weird Al Yankovic's Bad Hair Day (1996).

"Bring Em All In" is the first solo outing by Mike Scott of the Waterboys.  Released in 1995. An acoustic oriented album awash with spirituality.

In 1997 Bob Dylan released a terrific album called "Time Out of Mind" that won three Grammy Awards including Album of the Year. One song from it, "Make You Feel My Love"  has been covered by many artists.

Good choice. O0

One particular track from that album, "Too Many Walls" (a hit the following year), remains one of my personal favourites of all time. :)

I liked this one by Wild Orchid. A couple of their songs had an all around '60s feel to them, their songs "Be mine" and "In my room". As did some of the cover art work. Great album one of the best I've listened to!

Here is Mad Mad World, a 1991 album by Tom Cochrane.  The album's first single, Life is A Highway, became his 3rd hit on the US Hot 100 (1st as a solo artist) and his 18th hit on the Canadian Top 100 (2nd as a solo artist).  Another 5 singles from this album made the Canadian charts, one titled Washed Away also reached #88 on the US chart

Tom was 37 when this album came out, which isn't old, but it's not young, and given his past success in the US during the 80s, most Americans saw this as a debut album, which it technically was (his first solo album was released in 1973 under the name Cochrane).

My favourite solo hit from Tom Cochrane is on this album.  This is No Regrets

There's so many to choose from as I bought more full albums on CD's, while in the 2000's it was more about individual tracks for mp3 playlists. Here are ones that come to mind:

Jon B - Cool Relax
KLF - The White Room
Domino (self-titled)
311 - Grassroots
Bjork - Debut
Next - Rated Next
Beastie Boys - Ill Communication
Dave Matthews Band - Under the Table and Dreaming

Jewel’s Pieces of You which spawned the “You Were Meant for Me”/“Foolish Games” double single that was huge in 97-98. There was also “Who Will Save Your Soul” from the same album which was also a hit the year before.
