A pronunciation pet peeve I have is with some people from New York and North Jersey. They
tend to put an R in words or names that end with an A.
Idear instead of Idea
Samanther instead of Samantha
Amander instead of Amanda
and so forth. Adding that R drives me nuts.

Those are all the R's that we take off of words that are supposed to have them:
"My mutha and my fatha and my brutha and my sista are goin' out but I'd ratha say home." ;)
(Although it's only those with the thickest accents that add the r's. I don't think I've ever done that)

I forgot about the dropping of the R until I was watching "Toolbelt Divas". The host, Norma something-or-other,
was stating how easy the paint was to spread and she said, "see, it goes on like butta." :)

Two words that are constantly mispronounced when readers come across them in a paragraph.
Epitome and Paradigm.
Did you just pronouce them correctly?

New Englanders also say Idear. (Yeah, drives me crazy, too).
What really bothers the hell out of me around here is the way the pronounce "Elementary" and "Documentary". They pronounce them as "E-le-men-TARRY" or "Doc-u-men-TARRY" instead of "El-e-MEN-tree" or "Doc-u-Men-tree".

I have the hardest time pronouncing the word horror.
Should be easy right? I always get stuck on the first sylable for some unknown reason. Instead of prouncing it - Hore - Er, I say Hore (pause while I try to make sure I say it right) then say Or.
When I was little I could not pronounce Commercial, I'd call it Ma- Ker - Shell. Same thing with Cinnemon. I'd pronounce it Sim - a - nun. Thankfully, I've learnt how to say it correctly. Now I just have to work on the word Horror. ;D

\I said commercial the same way when I was younger! I say it right now but I still flip it every once in a while. I still have issues with cinnemon too.
One of the funniest words I mix up is Constipated.
I always end up saying com-piss-tated.
Mahaha! I can say it right if I think about it though.
And the other thing I say all jacked up is Animal.
I say Am-in-al
;D ;D ;D

I agree with that one -- on tv or anyone or says it. But I probably would not correct them either. Still, it's annoying.

The first one is a word...and you spelled it right. It's pronounced "Egg-ZASS-er-bate" and it means....to exaggerate but in a negative way ... um .... to aggravate or make worse. (When Alex and Katie are fighting, Nick joins in which only exacerbates the problem.)
As far as "encilliary" -- Perhaps you are thinking of "ancillary" -- "An-SILL-a-ree" -- which means, I think, secondary or under (as in rank). That's my best guess 'cause I don't think 'encilliary' is a word.

A pet peeve of mine with pronounciation is when people of one English dialect try and prounce English words in another dialect. It just comes off sounding terrible.
Eg:
Oriented instead of Orient-a-ted
Pro-nun-ciate instead of Pro-noun-ciate
Shed-ule instead of Ske-dule
Clark instead of Clerk
etc.

I've never understood "shed-ule" for "sked-ule". I get "la-bore-a-tore-e" instead of "lab-ra-tore-e" or "lezh-ure" instead of "lee-zure".....but not "shed-ule".

Yes, the singular and plural of that word always get confused. Parentheses (the plural, which ends with "seez") is most common, as the punctuation marks are usually used in pairs. However, the singular is parenthesis (pa-REN-thuh-siss), although I often say "parenthesee" to indicate just one.
